Easy Patchwork Quilt tutorial
💨Please note- that this is not the updated way I put these quilts together. IF you'd like the BLOCK building version, please refer to my new pattern here: sewhungryhippi...
💨This new Patchwork Quilt pattern has a ton of information inside, including color talk, 10 different starting patch sizes, how to cut fabric efficiently, and more. There is also a video link embedded for the NEW way of building this quilt.
💨This tutorial is for those that have asked how I used to put my early (2012-2017) patchwork quilts together. It's super easy, my aim is to show that ANYONE can do this. Perfection is not the goal, making is.
I am sorry the audio is out of sync in a few spots, just ignore my face and listen to the words.
Happy Sewing!!

I'm 74 and began quilting 5 years ago. I do squares also. These are easy for my hands and shoulders. I love quilting, wish I discovered it 30 yrs ago. But, now I'm making up for lost time. Just found your channel, love it.

You rock! love that "don't sweat the small stuff attitude" . The stress involved with striving for perfection has deterred a lot of people from attempting anything It's all about making something with your own hands and having fun doing it. thanks for the video!

These are honestly my favorite quilts- they are exactly what you would have found tucked away in grandmas closet! And her quilt wouldn’t have had perfect seams either 😊. I only undo a seam of its seriously off and messes up a whole row.. I found your channel last week and thought the accent sounded familiar…I’m a born and raised Wisconsin girl transplanted in the south. I love finding my people! Makes me feel at home!

I started making a patchwork bed cover like 5 years ago and put it all in a box and left it, because I found the seams weren’t matching up....and I had no idea how to do it better....So threw my hands up in the air and pushed it aside and it’s still sitting in the same box under my bed collecting dust more than likely. Might pull it out now I watched your video.... thank you! 💜

I am 37 and I have wanted to learn to sew since I was 5 years old. I now have a 7-year-old son who wants to learn. We had been searching far and wide across the web for some beginner sewing projects broken down into an easy to understand tutorial. Thankfully we found this video. You made us both feel like we can accomplish this. Can you please show us how to change the color thread on a bobbin and then how to thread it and replace it so the thread will not keep breaking? I keep forgetting how and it would be great for someone to post a video we can watch over and over

Hi, she can do a video if she likes. But you have to keep in mind not all machines are the same. I would recommend that you approach a dealer for your machine to request some support from them. Or look for videos posted by your machine brand - most have some online videos. Or try to find some sewist in your area / any social context to maybe assist you? I hope you will find some support and may come to enjoy creating through sewing.

Hey! Just came across this. Never done one before. Looking at making one for a toddler. I want a decent size quilt in the end with 6 and 1/2inch squares. How many squares would you recommend for a toddler/ kid size bed one? :) what finishing size do you think would suit? I also wondered if you put filling in them or does it not need it. Is there a specific type of material to gibe it thickness that I should aim for? Sorry about all the questions 😅

As long as you are not cutting on the bias you're fine. :D I am very random when it comes to these quilts- some prints are sideways and some are vertical. I love it like that.

i dont think you are going to see this but did you do a straight stitch for the whole thing? also with this do you have to go forwards and backwards on every square?
@SewHungryHippie

Yes all straight stitch. No, not every square because the seams get sewn twice -- full directions are in my PAtchwork Quilt pattern. nzdavm9owbbqsk92-1594425421.shopifypreview.com/products/patchwork-quilt-pillow-pdf-pattern?_pos=3&_sid=81a587ef7&_ss=r
