OMG this helped me SO much! It took a few days for both my left and right hand to sync together but it works. If I don't think and just relax my ears seem to let my hands do the work if that makes sense. This song has to be the fastest song I've ever learned. You are brilliant. One day I just woke up and my hands just went in sync with this song. Well done!

Memorize the notes on the left hand first, practice it until you no longer need to think about the chord chances. You can gauge this by talking out loud to yourself as you play. Then add the right hand in very slowly. Sound isn't important. Correctness is. As you get more comfortable increase the speed. Lastly, you can write down the notes and draw lines connecting them to show which notes line up together. Or print out sheets and highlight them. Be patient. You WILL get this!

I just got a piano three weeks ago and a how-to book since I am completely new to this. I'm leaning music theory through the book and notes/chords, etc, but went looking for something I could try to start playing. Well, I truly appreciate the work you put into this, and I'm in the process of learning it. It's a great tune. Still working on my hand independence but for the main part, I just used the root chord key to start with (thanks for that btw) and it actually sounded great .. Now working on adding the full chords. Awesome tutorial.

Jeremiah, I'm planning on picking up piano (moved from acoustic to electric bass and now this, been trying to find something that truly fits me), but I'm not sure if I should cash out and get a 88 right away, or save myself some torture and money and just get a 61 key. What do you think/what do you play on/what does this song need?
@Sovereign_5411 жыл бұрын
I've taught myself a couple of instruments now, and one thing I learned through the 3 different instruments I've learned, is that I spend more money upgrading slowly, than I would if I had forked out a little extra cash at the start. If you're confident that you'll enjoy the instrument and continue with it, absolutely, shell out some extra cash. As soon as you become proficient, a 61 key piano is going to leave you wishing you had more space when suddenly you realize you don't have enough keys to play the songs you want to play. Definitely spoil yourself a little bit. I personally started with a 499$ casio model, as seen in some older videos of mine, upped to a yamaha P155 model which is a phenomenal piano, $999 USD, and from there I went on, currently use Synthogy Ivory's Grand Pianos (see my LOTR, or Pixies covers for the sound.) I've never heard of anything that tops Synthogy in terms of sound. BUT, I digress. Hit up your closest guitar center and they can set you up with 12 months no interest financing which will make buying a better instrument much more affordable. Let me leave you with this one pearl of wisdom I've discovered.... You won't want to practice with a mediocre instrument that stimulates your mind in a mediocre way. You want to sit down, each and every day, and love the sound that comes out of your piano, that way youll always love practicing... I am at this moment recording a file for my soundcloud if youd like to hear my current setup... or see the LOTR cover or Pixies cover hope I helped!
@Sovereign_5411 жыл бұрын
***** You could get away with this song with a 61 key, but, i very much urge you not to buy one. You'd be buying half an instrument, you don't want that.
@deathscreton11 жыл бұрын
***** Gah, I see. Luckily for me, there's a guitar center literally down the street from my place. I'll go check it out tomorrow and hopefully, I can persuade myself to play and run through it. Maybe if I drop more money on it, I'll be less likely to stray from playing it since, you know, I dropped MORE money on it than I did my car. lol. Thanks man. I'll be subscribing and checking out more of your vids.
@Sovereign_5411 жыл бұрын
Ask them about their return policy, I'm sure it'll be 30 days or more, you could also force yourself to wait until you're super excited and more apt to practice. Just choose songs you like, that are simple. Mad world was my first song. Had it down in 3 days. You can do it. Good luck!

How long does it take to sync both hands? Or is that a sign to give up if it doesn't feel natural? I can play a bit with either the left OR the right but can't seem to get it to sync. Just keep practising I guess?
