Saw this and made it immediately. On top of that, the juice I found was 100%, unfiltered combo of Sangiovese and Montepulciano grapes...it's not even especially expensive, so the ingredients are 👍👍, the process is super simple and it should be really good! Cheers and thanks for the video!! Edit: The only difference is, I added wine tannin.

I’ve made tinctures of allspice, black pepper , oak, cocoa nibs, vanilla, and add them in samples to see how it’ll improve or ratios for some complexity if I think a mead or wine needs it.

I had a small harvest of Pinot Noir grapes last year that I wanted to stretch out farther, so I made a pyment! I literally just added the crushed grapes (about 1 gallon) to another gallon of water, and added honey to 1.084 SG (about 3.2 pounds). Turned out amazing!

The KISS approach makes this so fun. Guess I need to add more juice to the grocery list. One for me and one for the kids.

Now we just need to get home mead boxing technology, and we could make our own grown-up juice boxes for cheap table meads.

I am new to brewing and only have a few ciders under my belt. I have been scouring the internet on the need for nutrient for ciders/juice based brews and most of the information I have found stated that nutrient is not needed for ciders and could result increased fermentation speed and potential for off flavors. Do grape juice based wines really need the Fermaid O, including this recipe? I have the Fermaid O and I am getting ready to make up a batch of this tonight. Just wondering if I should omit it and what do I potentially lose/gain if I do. Oh... and Subbed!

Is Star San always no-rinse? My bottle explicity has "rinse thoroughly" as final step in the proces.. Bought in the EU.

I’m adding some peppercorns to a syrah/cab pyment. I love how you introduce folks to different flavors here and jumping off points. I also have a “Walmart pyment” recipe that I need to make again soon that consists of great value red grape juice, great value raisins, and pure and simple honey. The raisins really up the complexity and add a simulated aged component.

Absolutely! I think it’s great to reinforce that you can make something perfectly adequate, if not good, from grocery store ingredients - and with the right tweaks to the balance wheel sometimes it can even be great!

Hey, can I use my batch of traditional mead (aging in secondary) to fill the headspace in the fruit mead batches that I'll be racking in a couple of days? I can't buy new jars as they are top expensive in my country :)

If you were to add peppercorns, would you in primary or secondary?

Started watching because you did 5gal batches. Didn’t watch the others making 1gal batches. Change your channel to “Doing the Same thing everyone else Does”!!! 🎉 LOL!

Everyone starts somewhere. There’s a reason I published a video on how to scale up from one to 5 gallons before I started this beginner series! 😎

This is like Brews Lab adjacent for the beginners’ labs….so there is precedent for 1 gal batches here! LOL

@@gregj1789 yeah I also did the Jack Keller series of 1 gallon wine batches at the beginning of 2022, also to align with new homebrewers coming into the space after Christmas. I have a few 5 gallon batch videos coming up in the pipeline. It’s always just whatever’s ready at the time gets published, since fermentation projects can be pretty unpredictable!

@DointheMost you got me into home brewing and I appreciate all of the 1 gallon brew videos. At this point, any 5 gallon brew is too risky/ expensive for me. Keep up the great content!
