Wow, red that covers in one coat? Sounds like LosTech!

Thank you for the reminder/advice that you can go back later to a model when your painting skills have improved.

Nice. I was actually going to hard pass on most of the contrast range until I saw your tutorials. I ended up picking up some of the colors to try this out. My first one turned out a little splotchy because I think I was trying to spread the paint too thin. Overall though was still pretty happy with the result and it was definitely pretty quick. Thanks a lot for the idea!

I've had pretty great success using this color for word of blake 52nd shadow division. The contrast paint works well to make a gradient effect as it transitions from black on the lower half of the Mech and red on the upper half. Painted a seraph and an archangel so far and I'm pretty happy with the result

That’s fantastic. Awesome to hear how well they work in different ways for people.

Some advice to those who are using an alternative undercoat to Stonewall Grey: A _light_ grey primer might work, but Stynylrez grey primer will give you a _very_ dark red result (kind of like actual dried blood). Go with Stonewall, or alternately Grey Seer (which is a tiny bit lighter than Stonewall, and is designed to work well with Contrast colors).

Looks great, with the use of only some very simple techniques. A really good tutorial.

Any plans to upload more frequently? I love painting vids like this but Battletech-specific ones are difficult to find.

Yes, now that my video software issues are resolved you should hopefully see at least one new video per month.

Camo Specs Online so glad to hear that! Please keep them coming. I have recently been on a warship buying binge so I am looking forward to learning more techniques

Regarding the rust brown paint, you would give a Vallejo replacement?
@CamoSpecsOnline2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there's not a very good color in the Vallejo line that is similar to that rust brown from army painter that I used. The good news is that you don't have to use an exact color like that. You can use a light brown flesh tone or other light brown colors as long as there's a red tone present. The other option would be to add some red or orange to a light brown and mix it to your liking.

Thank you for this! I am working on some fire mandrills and blood spirits and I have struggled with reds

Do you start them at the color you want or a shade darker?
@stevenhernandeznon-profitf9684 жыл бұрын
Crash Overide usually darker to lighter. My longest standing project is the blood guard Keshik of the blood spirits. Primarily it is a stone grey and blood red scheme and I have just never been happy with how my grey comes out

You might want to try Army Painter Necromancer Cloak instead of pure black. I prefer it in most cases.

I typically use a charcoal as my base instead of black, but to emphasize the contrast aspect I went with black on this example.
