Great video once again. Coach, how can I contact you? I'd have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

A big takeaway for me is that you must be able to attack the defense to make it unsound. If you can't attack or take advantage of what the defense is doing then it is not unsound.

100% coach, unsound on paper and unsound on the field are different. Its not unsound if you dont get results.

Great video coach. Love how you use the H-back. Do you have any hand down TE formations? If so, what do you do out of those formations?
@CoachMac7 жыл бұрын
We do not use a TE, my own personal preference. I think you see more front scenarios and have more combinations to teach oline with a TE. I would run a bunch of Trey and Trips Closed with Inside Zone, Outside Zone, and QB Power/Counter. Dont think my passing game would change much but if you have a TE in your sets you have to use him.

So you only use him as an H-back and have him in the backfield?

How do you avoid illegal reciever downfield if you throw a pass when the OL blocks zone and might go 2nd level?
@QuicksilverCoach7 жыл бұрын
usually the pass happens quick enough that the line isn't too far downfield but even if they are, it is RARELY called.
@marcoeckhoff58297 жыл бұрын
mmh...maybe they rarely call it where you live...I'm coaching american football in germany...can you imagine how hard by the rule german referees play. ;)
@QuicksilverCoach7 жыл бұрын
In that case, if you decide to try to run it, coach the QB that the the throw has to happen on time (NOW) or not at all. Refs are different though, you can test it and then adjust your play calling to how closely the Refs are watching. Just the nature of the play puts a lot of stress on them and IMHO is the reason why it is not called more.

Ok, I will try this out and see if it works. I like the general concept a lot. If you can play it on highschoollevel it should be teachable here. ;) So the screen can be still thrown post snap read, right? But the access has to be decided pre snap, right? Thanks for the answers.^^

Rules state lineman can be 3 yards downfield at the time of a downfield pass. We only have issues if a lineman has an open gap to climb to LB and the QB doesnt get the ball out on time.
@dustinmartin226 жыл бұрын
Coach, Where exactly do you tell your RBs to hit the line at? Go to the centers butt and then find the hole? frontside or backside A gap?
@dustinmartin226 жыл бұрын
Also...at the middle school level...ive found, that if you run the flare pass twice in a row, and the second time you tell that Y to run a Y cross... its game over for that defense!
@nicolasbernardini34134 жыл бұрын
With zone blocking it's all instinct and finding a hole. The path is to the inside leg of the tackle, but he'll be able to cut wherever there's a hole

Can you run a slant to the 1wr side to control 8th defender?

Yes

Will these schemes work with a traditional 7man front? 4 down lineman, 3LBs??
@CoachMac4 жыл бұрын
Not if you only have 6 blockers and they have 7 defenders. Maybe Key Screens but RPOS will be tough
