In this video we will make the popular Italian Sausage and Pepper sandwich. It’s an Italian American favorite using Italian Sausages with sliced bell peppers and onions. These were introduced in the San Gennaro Feast festival in NYC in the late 1920’s but spread across America to become the popular staple at State fairs and festivals it is today.
In the air fryer (I’m using a COSORI) this is easy to make so give it a shot next time you’re craving a tasty sandwich.

INGREDIENTS +++++++++++++++++++
- Four Italian sausages (But any thick, bratwurst-sized sausage would work if that’s all you have). I used the Italian sausages that I have access to in Japan, which are the PREMIATA Salumeria brand Salsiccia Aglio sausages, available at COSTCO Japan.
- 3-4 bell peppers (or more, it’s up to you). I usually can find large ones only in red, yellow and yellow ones in Japan, but green and red are commonly seen with this. Green ones in Japan are always small and thin skinned for some reason.
- 1 Large or 2 medium onions (or more, it’s up to you)
-Garlic. At least 2-3 cloves. More if you prefer and have no social engagements anytime soon.
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper (throw these in whenever you get a chance in the process.
- A hero/sub/grinder/hoagie “long” roll or half of Italian bread or baguette per sandwich.
