theartsherpa You’re already amazing! It’s easy to show somebody how to do something, but it’s not easy to teach & actually break through to everyone. You hit it on the nail (for me anyway)! Some painting KZbin tutorials suck, & really don’t explain anything. They paint as if their audience already knows most of what they’re doing, yet the title reads, “beginner”. They don’t explain techniques, they don’t tell us what colors they’re using, they don’t show the brushes, & some even film it at an angle where we can’t see what they’re doing! That drives me cRaZy!! I’ve found some gorgeous paintings I’d love to try, but can’t b/c the “beginner tutorial” isn’t very beginner friendly. I’m not putting them down in anyway, but teaching isn’t something that just anybody can do. I think you have a knack for it. Thank you for taking the time to share your talent w/us! 🧡

Dedra Edwards Asked in the Show ​IF WE DON'T HAVE THE BIG BRUSHES CAN WE USE SOMETHING DIFFERENT? Well yes you always can. You want a brush that is soft and flagged at the ends with a good spring. Big helps softly defocus everything and you dont have to have the brand I am using. There are many brands al all prices ( even at the hardware store the best there is Purdy) but my tip is vigorously wash out before you use any bristle brush to avoid shedding. after that go crazy!!

42:14 Bookmark Sorry I have to mark my places so much! Lol! Sometimes paintings take me a few days, or I’ll do stuff (cook, clean house,etc) while working on a painting. I’ve even started other paintings before I’ve finished one, so I’m kind of all over the place & need to “bookmark” time stamps to help me remember where I’m at. I am meh so so at digital. BUT if you want great digital teaching check out Bobby Chui anything I know is from him or my kids. I can say i use an ipad , i pencil , photoshop, sketchbook and Fresco. I should use procreate

Are there any tips for lefties? I’m really new and started painting by watching your videos. I noticed I struggled working on the right side of my canvases. Will this get better with practice or will the right sides of all my canvas paintings always look like a baby did it? Lol

Watch the video in a mirror can help. Try a Mhal stick so you dont drag or rest in a wet area. You can over come drag but instead of trying to recreate my exact stroke Reverse the c stroke to your dominant angle and the s stroke. Remember we write left to right so tend to create that way but many many countries are the opposite and their artists are fine even with a right dominant hand. So what that tells you is that their are stratagies not yet developed by you for every method and technique. Sometimes you will find that you want to angle a stroke from right left to left right as well. Hope something their helps

This is the first painting I just completely gave up on :-o I don't know why one hoot is giving me such trouble. I didn't like jsut the background when I started a couple of weeks ago, so I covered the whole thing in white and started over tonight. I struggled with the grass and the scarecrow didn't look quite like I wanted and then the crow was horrible and I just painted the whole canvas black and decided I'll find a future painting with a black background. LOL The last painting I completed was the Supernatural one with Baby, the car and it was challenging but in a really fun way. I think that scarecrows and I must not be friends. ;)
