this is such a good tutorial. clear and straight to the point, explains WHY you're doing things a certain way so that we can actually learn/understand, easy to follow, AND you have such a chill, calming voice/vibe/music that it's honestly pleasant just to have your video playing in the background while I get distracted and do other stuff (lol). thank you so much for making this!!! I can't believe I'm actually, finally, learning character modelling :D and you make it feel so easy too

Good tip he made on smoothing. When you stroke to smooth, you actually smear it smooth rather than rounding/flattening it. When you tap, it rounds much nicer and avoids hiccups like crossing geometry and getting weird bumps, triangle glitches, etc

Hi ! I was finally able to create my first sculpting character thanks to you ! A word to others beginners like me : don't buy courses at first, you may be disappointed if you are quite a freehand... Your tutorial style is the best. You're doing enough to explain what you need to without over-complicating things and your videos are a more reasonable length. It can be hard to focus on long turtorials, especially ones that spend forever explaining the absolute basics.

Using a 10 year old pc with 1050 ti Gpu. Your crashing can be due to some software issue. This sculpting is very normal level. Try to reinstall latest gpu drivers and blender or you can try some other tutorial which is not sculpting related.

One of the best sculpting tutorial! But i have question about switching parts of object. I know that you can also untake Lock object mode and switch object parts with alt left click. I think that with alt q it is more convenient but i want to know what is the difference between these keys?
@Farrukh3D
@Farrukh3D 8 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for your comment. I prefer Alt+q and have lock mode on. For Lock mode, it is used to restrict switching of mode when selecting different objects. For example selecting a bone in pose mode and instead clicking some other object that might lead to switch to object mode. I usually keep lock mode on.

Increase the mask strength and then paint mask. It will paint with black color overlay. If there is no mask visible then make sure that object is selected (alt+q). Also check if you applied the subdivision modifier and object has enough face resolution to paint mask.

@Farrukh3D
@Farrukh3D 6 ай бұрын
Hi, Thank you very much for your feedback. For the nostrils, you can try checking if in the multires modifier all subdivision levels are atleast 3. Then apply it. The details can disappear during remesh modifier as well, you can use a more lower value to keep most details. Hopefully it will work.

Hi, Thank you for your comment. For the sculpt going too deep, first try to reset scale, ctrl+A in object mode (apply scale) and then sculpt. Next when sculpt is moved, open the move menu which shows in the bottom right corner, adjust the value to reduce it. Another way is to hold shift while moving, it can reduce the movement speed. It can take a little practice but hopefully you will get it.

Check if you have applied the subdivision modifier. Apply it if it is showing modifier list. Low resolution mask is usually due to less polygons. Then add a multi-res with 2-3 levels. Then see if masking improves. Hopefully will work.

i was wondering if you could help me, i was following your tutorial and everything was going fairly well until i got to the masking. on my computer for some reason the masking wasn't as precise and it seems like the resolution for the masking was diff. making it really hard to sculpt out the mouth and eye holes.

Hi, if masking looks low resolution then apply the subdivision modifier first. (click apply button in modifier small arrow) not just only add. That will increase the number of polygons in the mesh. Mask looks clear when base mesh already has more density of polygons. Hopefully it will fix the issue.

For me sculpting does nothing for some reason Do you have any ideas of what might be the issue?

Hi, Try a new clean scene with a simple cube. Load a subdivision modifier (3 levels) on it (not only add, apply it as well) or add a multires modifier. Switch to sculpt mode and test. Make sure the brush strength is not too low (Right-click). Select Grab brush (G) and move faces. It should work hopefully.

Hi, check if subdivision modifier is applied shown at the first step of the video. In the sculpt mode, hover the mouse over the object to make it active and then try to sculpt move.

For the eyebrow, could you explain why why did you did a 4 level subdivision and then added a multires modifier? Would you be able to get the same effect with just the multires modifier? And thanks for making this! This is a fantastic tutorial and the pacing is perfect.

Thank you for your comments! The reason to use a subdivision modifier before is to add mesh resolution before sculpting. Multi-res is designed to work best when the base mesh already has more faces. Otherwise, there is a need to remesh if the base geo is very low like here a cube and you will need to add a high number of levels in multi-res for smooth sculpting However, this is just one way I showed here, you can use any other way if it works better.

@@Farrukh3D Gotcha, thanks for the reply. So then is there a difference between adding a 3 level subdivision modifier followed by a 2 level multires modifier versus just adding a 5 level multires modifier?
@Farrukh3D
@Farrukh3D Жыл бұрын
@@DDC-kx3uf Yes, from my experience the performance will be affected when sculpting details at higher levels in multi-res. Rest depends on the type of model and computer specs. However, this may not be noticeable in simple sculpting tasks.

Hi, In the top right corner in sculpt mode, there is a menu Remesh. You can set the Voxel size there or Press R (in Blender 3.5+) for the Remesh grid.

hi! I'm having trouble. Whenever I try sculpting on just the nose, it also sculpts on the face. Idk what setting to turn this off but it's very confusing!

Hi, Switch to the nose with Alt+q it will highlight and you will be able to sculpt. Make sure nose is a separate object. Sorry to know you are finding it confusing but sculpting is slightly difficult at first but with practice it become easier.
