This is a good video for the beginer. I liked how the young lady explained and went slowly so you can play the chord s along with her. I will continue learning from her videos. I played as a child and always want ed to pick it back up. I am years down the road so its good to get back into it and learn simple chords I can use to enjoy playing again.

i have no knowledge of music theory and dont know how to play piano at all, but your lesson really inspires me, the chords you play are so beautiful, just like the piece Dudley Moore plays in movie 10. i start playing some of your chords on my keyboard with left hand, and find it so pleauring to listen, then try to add a few notes forming very simple melody, all of a sudden i found myself making a 15-seconds song, never think of capable doing this wonderful thing without any formal musical training, i want like to complete the song oneday to my very special one, thank so much Francesca, you really change my life.

Great video! To the point and very informative. Do you suggest any other videos for learning slow jazz? I’m looking to be able to simply improvise some slow, easy listening jazz like on this video, where I had enough material to actually sit down at a restaurant or hotel piano bar and play. Not looking to play with others or learn specific songs… just improvise. I know jazz can be hard, but I also know with a solid foundation of the basics one could “fake” being a long time pro.. curious on your guidance/direction. Thank you!!!!

Thank you so very much Francesca for this simple and effective tutorial. Your instruction confirms the way I am starting to develop my left hand chord progression and that is a big plus for me. I came back to playing the piano after an absence of 40 years and now I realize how huge my limitations have become as far as technical agility. I was trained for classical music in my 20s and it seems that the muscle memory recovery keeps pushing me to play the melodies (in jazz) improvs to sound like a lot more classical than say modern jazz. What advice or pointers could you give me to overcome that would be tremendously appreciated.
