Great idea...Thank You. I try to remember to start it once a week to keep the float bowl full. I have a 2007 Rhino 450 (Love it) and I found that using an Iridium spark plug also helps it fire up quickly.

Those primer bulbs have a 1-way valve in them to act as an anti-drain feature. Swapped an old (original) bulb for new on my 69 Merc 1000 outboard and its a night/day difference in starting. Great idea on any older vacuum pump engines.

Lots of people also change out the fuel pumps to key on electric pumps.. I like your idea too..

I wanted to keep it simple and reliable. An electric lift pump is possibly better....

@@thehonestmechanic I really doubt the electric lift pump is better because if an accident occurs and the rhino is upside down or on its side and the fuel line gets a leak, the pump will continue to pump fuel as long as it has power and can make a situation way worse than it can be. Probably why the factory uses a vacuum pump.

OMG….. yes this is exactly what I need!! Mine has had issues all the time and now it will not start because no gas to Carb. I will try this first and then try the electric fuel pump if it does not work. Thank you so much!!!

You can add an electric pump with a pressure limit of 5 to7 pounds pressure .It will work off the key better than the hand pump. Better throttle response and more power on takeoff.

The primer bulb will also help with vapor lock in hot weather

Thats a great idea, mine runs great but after a month I need to use spray start to get the fuel to the carb. I tried an electric pump and it started great but It would often overcome the float needle and flood the carb making it a fire hazard.

Just picked up a 2004 Yamaha Rhino, in very good condition only 700 klm on it. But cold starting sucks. I'm going to do your fix and hope it works. My question is how many times do you have to prime the pump? dont want to flood the carb. and this was a year ago could you do an update on your fix? thanks Rhino On!!!!

That is a great find! I recommend priming the ball until it is firm(kinda like an outboard motor). It should now flood as long as the carburetor is in good shape(the needle, seat and float all work together as they should) Thank you and good luck 👍

Hey bud , great video. I too have this problem but will follow your suggestions. I recently replaced the battery and now I have all the lights but it will not turn over. Could there be a fuse gone bad?

So just starting from the top, I'm assuming that the battery is food and that it's installed properly. After that, there is a breaker for the starting circuit. It's usually located in the battery box . I would check it first. Also, thank you for watching!

​@@thehonestmechanicdo you know where they where purchased ? I added a primer bulb over a year ago, it helps but still is pretty finicky to start, it's kind of a certain procedure I have to do, pretty sure it's the choke, technically it's really not a choke, more of a fuel limiter.

The windshield is a piece of plexiglass cut to size. The roof, I'm not sure 😕. If you think your choke is giving you issues, check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5jcpaiDg7yKaNU. It may help you

I bought one of these for my church, the church is a 40 minute drive from my house, so I'm sorry to pesker you with a question but it'll save me a good hours drive. Did you have to buy fuel lines for this mod? If so what's the ID?

I did have to buy some fuel line and adapters. I used whatever size the current fuel system was which if memory serves it's 3/16 and adapted it to the smallest primer bulb I could find which I think was 1/4. Unless of course you can find a primer bulb that is the correct size and simply splice it in. 😉

Looking online for the pump forgot to ask the internal diameter of the hose found one on Amazon stating it's an 8 mm internal diameter is that correct? Thanks for your time

@TimberJay I can't remember exactly but I did have to use some reducers to make the connections. I recommend using quality clamps to prevent leaks

Pretty sure the primer bulb was 5/16 and the regular fuel line was 1/4. I ended up using a reducer to make everything work together

This modification is intended for carburated models. Fuel injection already has a higher pressure fuel pump
