Who are you, it feels like you're right here next to me, showing me something I should have known about forever. I am in my late sixties and I am learning something new. I never knew I could crochet 🧶 a thermo stitch. It really looks like a warm thermal fabric. I am amazed. I like how you described everything in detail and your voice is soft and smooth when talking to your subscribers. The Bronx , New York.

You know, I HAD been wondering how best to make a hat in thermal stitch. I had already worked out how to work it in the round, as well as increasing/decreasing, to get the gist of the basics. So, this tutorial popping up in my recommendations really is a blessing. Thank you for doing the last and most difficult part of adapting a stitch for a hat: figuring out the counts and timing.

Thank you for this! My mom has a lot of health issues that give her immune problems. She also has thinning hair and so in short, she catches chills a lot and gets sick a lot. She asked me to make her a simple beanie that would really be warm for going outside and one she could use at night to wear to bed to keep her head warm. I looked and looked for patterns, but the stitches weren't tight enough for my liking to keep the cold out. This was more than perfect and mom loves it. Now I'll be making more beanies for her in different colors. Thank you!

Can you explain what “frogging” is?…I’ve seen this term in other commentaries , but don’t know what it means ..
@kimberlygriffin5012
@kimberlygriffin5012 2 жыл бұрын
@@mariapappas-rogich6235 it’s when you have to pull/rip out a row or several rows because of a missed or incorrect stitch. It’s a play on the word “rip”, such as, “I had to rip out two rows because I counted the stitches incorrectly”. When we joke and say “rip it, rip it, rip it”, it sounds like a frog so somewhere along the crocheting journey the term “frogging” was born. I don’t think it’s an official term, but it certainly is funny!

crocheted this hat and yes, it did take a while to get done. But it is a beautiful, warm and cozy hat. I usually don't wear hats as they don't fit right or don't feel comfortable enough. This is now my favourite hat to wear. Plan to crochet the striped one with worsted weight yarn soon. Thank you for this lovely pattern and excellent tutorial.

@@cherb_soco1891 Two strands of cotton yarn and a 6 mm hook and the end result is the very first potholder ever that doesn‘t get my fingers hurt. Yes, I am extremely sensitive to heat. Thermal stitch is just sooo great. I just finished some safety wristwarmers for myself, with neon stripes and reflective thread, and a colorway I really like, and they are big enough to fit over my gloves for when I use my bicycle. Left handed and struggling. Using a light weight 3 acrylic and 4 mm hook. Created foundation chain twice, second time with 5mm hook as it became so hard to do the next row and nearly impossible for the thermal stitch. Will keep trying as I love the look of this hat/pattern.

Should I just take off 5” (about 24 stitches) to get to a 21” head or does the hat come up smaller by the time you’ve done a few rows of thermal stitich?

What a beautiful creation! While fairly simple, I unfortunately have four failed attempts; and the first row working into the back loops nearly made me lose my mind lol I’m using the 3 weight yarn and size 4 hook as indicated and it’s huge! Sarah’s hats are usually too large for me, so I did 110 chains, then 100, then 90 and it’s still too large. Is anyone else having that issue? My stitches are nice and tight too, which baffles me how mine can be so different from the wonderful tutorial.

I started thermal stitch with flat potholders. I had trouble figuring out where to start each row. I found myself increasing and decreasing. I found using stitch markers helped a lot, especially at the start and end of each row. And counting relentlessly. What I don't like here is1) it's not clear how you join rows. Do you slip stitch into one loop? 2 loops? Or the 1 loop of current row and 1 loop of prior row? 2) why painstakingly go through decreases 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and then skip where it becomes confusing?!!!
