I am finishing my first beanie using this pattern. Next one I will be using a thinner 4# weight like Caron. Important to count stitches every row as I did a lot of frogging. I found this a very simple pattern, but a time consuming one. Not for fast hat donations.
@josiekowatch2953

If you use a thinner yarn, you still have the same amount of stitches? Because I’m using wool and thin probably a 2 count. Which is thin.

I’ve been crocheting since I was 13 years old. I’ve always hated making any hat unless it’s in the round, now at 65, I think I’ve found the perfect crocheted hat that’s not in the round! Yes, I like love this pattern and the method you used. I’ve made a few for Christmas, this morning after finishing another, husband asked when I was going to make him one because it was exactly what he wanted. 😮(yeah, that’s strange, he doesn’t usually wear any crocheted items I’ve made, but he said “I just like that style and it looks warm”. So…this hat is a huge win! 😊

This is the first hat I've crocheted. Thank you for the written and video instructions. It made it very easy. The hat is so nice and stretchy it fits everyone in my house - myself, husband and 14 yo son. Made it with worsted weight wool and its so cozy. Higly recommend!!

I just finished the project :) I had to redo it a couple times, because my stitches were too tight at first. The second time I just stopped counting because it annoyed me - big mistake! I was halfway trough and noticed the pattern doesn't work because I lost stitches. The third time I counted stitches and made sure my stitches are loose. Though my yarn was way thinner than yours...I had to use a 3mm hook. So I made 16 sets instead of 10 and I had a 73-stitches foundation chain. But it was totally worth it. It fits really well. It's super stretchy

I loved making this beanie but I had an issue and I’m not sure how to fix it so any help would be great. My stitch count was the same but when I started to seam it up, one side was longer than the other. I was so disappointed because I loved the way it looked and I had spent SO much time making it. Thank you!
@debbiefox6846
@debbiefox6846 Жыл бұрын
Maybe your tension on the yarn changed. It can happen. I remember when my kids were young they would have an issue, maybe a disagreement , or I had to make dinner . I'd go deal with whatever was going on and come back to crochet. I used to notice that depending on my mood or stress level I would accidentally crochet tighter or looser. So now 24 yrs later I am able to always watch my tension and crochet the same when I go back to a project. How far off is your one side from the other? If it's definitely the same stitch count you probably could just stitch it up and the hat may even itself out. If it's a big difference you will probably need to redo the last 9 rows and check your tension as you go with the other side. If that doesn't work maybe check again to see if your count is in fact off somewhere.

Heya! I personally try to put a stitch marker in the first and last stitch of each row I make! So like make ur first stitch, put a marker in, work the row, then put another marker in the very last stitch u make. It makes it much easier to count how many stitches u have after every row to make sure it stays the same every time! U can use something like old hoop earrings, safety pins, or anything you feel won’t fall out to mark ur stitches if u don’t have actual markers lol (I don’t have any either, I just use some cheap hoop earrings I got from Walmart as a kid haha)
