I limit my tracks mostly too quiet, at least for edm. Maybe because it's not my main genre, I mostly listen to music with more dynamic range like classic. And when I want to make edm I still have this mindset. But I'm working on It, Pro L2 has useful loudness metering, it helps me a lot. Nice tips, especially the sub Bass. Thanks a lot!

I also listen to less limited styles of music, but in edm you have to do it as much as possible

Extremely useful tutorial! How many hz should I cut from every sound to remove bass frequencies? Also, if I use tonal balance to fix the unbalances, what do I do? I just boost the unbalanced area?
@wildcrowmusic
@wildcrowmusic 4 жыл бұрын
Cut as much as possible without loosing the character of the sound For example, if you don't have enough midhighs, you can increse the leads or maybe the problem is that you have too much sub

apparently reverb makes everything distorts a lot and cutting the low freq with on/off automations works a lot, thanks!
@wildcrowmusic
@wildcrowmusic 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. Reverb is something that is always in a lower volume than the dry signal, so the dry signal would distort first
@Jack-wx4hg
@Jack-wx4hg 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm i did cut the low freq of the reverb and it did fix the distortion but maybe it's because i intentionally made the reverb to be big. When i monitor eq the reverb, the sub bass did also sounded way too thicc (the lead that i reverbed is also really rich in sub bass so yea)

The kick are so high so i cant limit without distortion. But if i turn lower the kick in the mix, the kick disappear in the mastering. I google it and i just find one tool to help it and it was to expensive. Can you help me?
@wildcrowmusic
@wildcrowmusic 2 жыл бұрын
Then, don't limit that much, or reduce the sub so it doesn't distort, or reduce the kick and work in the mixing to make it stand out with a lower volume

I would rather cut low freqs ONLY when it is necessary and when you obviously hear it. I don't agree that low-end of the freq spectrum is like a box where you put all the stuff one on each other so that you have to cut everything below 100-200 hz.
@wildcrowmusic
@wildcrowmusic 3 жыл бұрын
Try it, you will get a lot cleaner sub and more space for the kick and the sub, which helps to get a louder song in the mastering
