Those bridges look extremely good! I did something fairly similar for a board I'm making, but I could've used so much more color and bits. I'll keep this video in mind for my next project!

Another way to roughen up the sticks would be to employ a wire brush. Those are fairly easily and somewhat inexpensively found at hardware stores. Wire brushes are good for roughing up many would pieces, not just logs. So even if you use the standard coffee stirers or craft sticks, they'll look more worn and beaten.

Great work as always Donny. Wouldn't miss any of your videos. Though can I be annoying and express how much I miss your Warcry battle reports?
@DiceChatter
@DiceChatter 11 ай бұрын
Not annoying at all. Warcry is one of those games I have been thinking about lately. Trying to decide if it is something I would want to try and get back into. Unfortunately, with the constant quarterly upgrades, price hikes, and the struggle of "keeping up with the Jones' " it is making it more and more difficult... 😐
@Heartl3ss21
@Heartl3ss21 11 ай бұрын
@@DiceChatter Honestly, you don't have to necessarily use the latest rules or warbands. Your battle report format was the best on all of KZbin and this is not an exaggeration. I honestly tried watching myriads of other channels but I couldn't even finish one of their reports. I don't know what you do that make yours so easy and fun to watch. If you decide to return to Warcry, just do what you did and it will be fine :)

LOVE the "coward graffiti" 😆 The bridges are amazing! Also love that you only used basic tools and techniques. They turned out beautiful and with the barricades on only one side I thought it was so cool how you could put two bridges together to make an extra wide walkway. I've made some bridges myself out of bbq skewers, but I'm taking notes for the next ones I build

I like the weathering that's done to the "logs" or cylindrical wood, but I'm curious how it would actually work, using such a long piece of straight circular wood to walk on. It seems like you could roll an ankle pretty easily, and I still want to keep on the side of flat planks to walk on, with maybe something supporting it on the underside, or maybe a vertical post at the end with string making a suspension bridge element? I still like planks though, as it seems better to actually walk on. Seems you could add posts to them though and walls like you've mentioned. I'm not sure about adding the shields and such. It seems like something added just for the heck of it, like in Applebee's before they took all that kitsch down. Not a bad inclusion though, just not my style. I discovered actual craft sticks from Walmart ( I think) and they were so much easier to cut than popsicle sticks, it was amazing the difference. Then marking them up with a knife and cutting grooves into them, similar to what you're doing with the knife.

Using dowels instead of coffee stir sticks changes the look a lot already, I love it! I bet those would look great as half-logs if you can manage to cut them in half. Also the look and feel of your videos has improved a lot over the years. It struck me while you were showing the tools around 1:00, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. The editing maybe?

If you soak the dowels in water for a couple hours, you can then use a peg board "jig" to get some bends and 'natural' curvature/growth
