These summer projects are a great addition to your backyard, but also, somebody elses. Here are 5 simple outdoor projects to help grow your woodworking business and make extra money this summer.

yard dice
easily transform a 4x4 into 25 yard dice. first, cut your 4x4 into 3-1/2" cubes.
no, we aren't sanding yet.
using a router I added a gentle round over to the sides we just cut, so they matched.
then, download my free plans to mark where the holes go. use an awl or something with a point. using a forstner bit, I drilled down the depth of the bit so they were equal.
nope.
paint the inside of the dice whatever color you wish, white and black are traditional, but dont be afraid to mix it up.
once the paint has dried. give it a light sanding to remove any paint you got on the face.
i like to use a clear coat spray, but again, dont be afraid to mix things up.
walla. you have yard dice.

need a place to sit? this outdoor bench offers storage for cushions or fresbees or whatever people store outside. the creates came from a "thrift store" but good old Matthew Peech will show you how to build a few, and maybe down the road I will too. total cost around $40. simple construction lumber.

a planter box? shocker. My planters can be found in the Free Plan Planter Playlist. This planter however has hidden storage for your hose. pretty cool. the build is done using pallet wood but the measurements can easily be made using cedar pickets.

The dice are an awesome idea. I plan to make. A minor suggestion. The pips on the dice should always equal 7. If it's a 6 on one side the opposite side should be a 1, a 5 on one side the opposite side should be a 2. And to make them perfect the 6 sideways should have the 5 on top and the 4 on the right side.

FYI.. 6 sided dice should have the two opposing sides add up to 7, if you want to be more accurate. So, the 3&4 should be opposite, 1&6 opposite and 2&5 opposite. I love you videos, BTW.

Those yard dice made me think of old guys (not me of course...LOL) and the fuzzy dice some liked to hang off their rear view mirror in cars. Don't see those anymore. Might sell some those to those "other" guys for their cars. Still time to sell some those items but need to hurry and get them out there. Time flies. Be time for the fall and winter items before you know it. And who told you not to sing anymore? Yu sing at least as good as I do and I still sing sometimes. Especially when I want to be left alone. Never stopped me from watching your videos. I like your content.

Love your videos bro. I've used several of your plans to build 3 different style planters now and modified the plans a bit to build a few larger ones. They all sold and I've sold about six of the small $30 dollar planters since starting these last month right before mothers day. Right now, I'm in the process of building a raised garden bed that looks like a wooden wagon. I'm trying to log the materials and cut list to send it to you. Perhaps it's something you can build and feature on your channel. As soon as I'm done ill reach out to you for a way to get the plans to you. I started this past Friday, but unfortunately even though I was using a table saw push along with scrap wood on the other side of the blade, the wood I was cutting hit a knot causing it to jump over the blade and sent two of my fingers through it. One had a minor cut, but the index finger was split almost in half. I had surgery Sunday morning to repair the broken bones and what not. Once I'm healed up I want to finish this build and send you the plans, materials and a few photos. I'd love to see you feature this build on your channel. I would do it myself, but I haven't gotten into making videos for KZbin just yet. Thanks so much for providing your awesome content.

Love the dice idea how far should u drill down in the them and what would you recommend if you do not have a wood burner just paint them

I drill them about 3/8" down, you can paint the holes and dice if you wanted instead of staining, :) have fun!!
