fyi this is not the crochet I-cord in the U.S.A., but it is a nice crocheted cord

This looks so simple but I can't seem to get it. I struggle to see the second chain stich and then can't see the 2 loops to go through for the repeating pattern. Your yarn looks stiffer that what I'm using. I wish you would provide details on the type of yarn you use and the size hook.

I had a really hard time with that second chain stitch, too. I'm using Lily Sugar and Cream yarn with a size J (American) hook. What I finally did was identify that second chain very carefully *before* doing that first clockwise turn so I knew exactly where to put the hook. I also discovered that it's really important to do that turn fully because I could squeeze into those two loops on the side, but it didn't give the beautiful look you get from going in from the very top. Hope that helps - don't give up!
