Thank you for adding the cross hole part. It saved me.

Relevant to this day! Just did this today to my 2015 Highlander. The hardest part was making sure the top rod went in. FYI, the front passenger door does not require the top rod, at least in my 2015 Highlander limited. Took me about 1 hour 15 total for both doors, this is taking my time.

I am thrilled it helped. I apologize that the video was a little jerky. That's great to know because I now need to do our passenger side!

@@SwimmingintheDeep Yes, made things much easier. If you already have the replacement passenger door actuator you can see that it doesn't have the hole for the top rod, I had to do a double take since I thought I ordered the wrong part.

Very nice. Can you share link for replacement motors?

You're welcome. I'm glad that it helped. Part of the reason I make these videos is in case I have to go back and fix something similar. I watch my own video before I get out my tools :-)

I couldn’t see the rod going into the “cross hole” now I can’t open it with my key but the remote works. I have to go back in another day thank you.

I think that is unique to the driver side. I apologize my camera work was a little shaky that day. I need to do the passenger side soon but it doesn't have that cross hole I don't think because there's no key on that side. Thanks for the comment.

Below the speaker is a gap put your hand in there and slowly pry the door off after all screws are off. Also before removing door pop light out and unplug it.

I finally replaced mine, I wonder if something is switched around though, if I lock the door from the inside and shut the door I can still open from the outside. If I lock it from the outside it locks, also unlocks properly.
@SwimmingintheDeep Жыл бұрын
@@goodgoin1 my guess is that maybe the little arm that gets put on it, the metal rod, might not be sitting exactly right.

I think Toyota Service said that the part price with them is $400 plus installation. I watched your video to see if I could attempt it myself. I'm going to give it a go. Thanks.

Toyota just buys the part from a company like Asin. Here's the one I went with and it's under $100. If you can fix simple stuff, you can do it. Let me know how it goes. This one is the drivers door www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B076BZJRQJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

It has happened to all 4 locks on my 2014 Avalon. Had three replaced during warranty period. Last is broke and one of the fixed ones is now broken. They would have charged almost $700 to replace if I did not have warranty. Defective in my opinion. I hope my husband can fix these himself now. I could never pay that much money to fix these two.

I can't remember but I think one goes to the pull handle inside and the other to the outside handle. Regardless, the system will not work unless you have both.

What was the issue to make you think the actuator was bad?
@SwimmingintheDeep11 ай бұрын
The locks will start working intermittently. So, for instance, when you tried to unlock the door sometimes it does not flip on that side that's going bad.... But all of the other doors open.
@kimwhite255311 ай бұрын
My key fob won’t work with that door and the only way it will lock/unlock is with a key. I just purchased the car 3 days ago. Thanks for the info. Great video
@SwimmingintheDeep11 ай бұрын
@@kimwhite2553That's good information, I would guess that you're on the right track and that the actuator is bad in that door.

Hola, logré cambiar el motor y reparé la puerta del conductor, alguien sabe si la polaridad del motor del acompañante es la misma del conductor?

So, my passenger door is now acting up and I plan to do that, just replace the motor. I can only find one motor that seems to be the fit for all doors. I have it on order from ebay/china seller. It was like $5. Hopefully I'll have it soon and will make another video on that. How did you open the actuator to get to the motor? I was thinking you can only cut it out and then weld/melt the plastic back.

I'm sorry to hear that. I can only guess that either that your new actuator itself has an issue or the wiring leading from the switch to the actuator.

Video is lacking... doesn't show the tear-down and removal and countless important steps of an actual installation.....Not as fully detailed as some of the longer videos.... which show a easy to follow, step by step replacement without the 'Blair Witch Project' shaking camera views.... but thanks.
