Very nice! A few things if you don't mind. I've been on many charters and they nearly all use 20-pound mono on down rigger rods. I use 30-pound Blood Run Sea Flea line, but the 20 the charters use seems ok. Dipsey rods.... everybody I've seen use braid as the main line. Braid picks up sea fleas though. Weighted line rods....everybody I've seen uses braid as main line. I use 40-pound braid but others use 30-50 pound. I use a short mono leader 20-25 pounds to attach to the lure. We bleed our fish and it seems to help. We use a short rope to keep the fish out of the engines and an 8-inch carabiner from Harbor Freight. We secure the carabiner to the rope, which is attached to the boat, insert the open carabiner into the fish's mouth and out the gills. Hang the live fish over the side, cut the gills with a filet knife or meat shears then let the fish bleed out in the lake as it's towed along. We leave them in the water at least 15 minutes to bleed out. At the fish cleaning station we've compared bled out fish to unbled out fish and the bled out fish seem to have less blood in them. Best of Luck!

Thank you for the tips! I will be spooling up with a heavier line next time. The method you use to bleed the fish is also innovative!

Another fantastic video, I enjoy watching you 2 fish together. I was incredibly fortunate to fish out of Two Rivers for several years in the 80's. There is a special thrill catching big fish. Too bad the weight didn't release on Niki's first steelhead as they are excellent fighters. TIGHT LINES ALL

You got to bleed your fish in a 5 gallon pail of water then put them on ice. Nice catch...
