I didn't read aaaaall the comments, I have to admit, so maybe I'm saying something that was said before, but here's a tip: When you use glue instead of tape, it is important to use the glue on the paper, not the cover. The glue adds humidity to what you apply it to, so adding it to the paper will make it a little "wavy", but it will shrink down again when the humidity evaporates and there'll be no "blisters". If you apply the glue to the "stronger" side of the pair, the opposite will be the case - the result will not be even/flat. And now for something that has definitely been said before: Great tutorial!! Thanks so much. Can't believe I didn't discover this earlier. It's strange to have no sound, but I have to say I quite like it. It is easier to catch a certain instruction going back and forth when it's there in writing. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! This is a wonderful video. I enjoyed the quiet music, and everything is very clear. I've made journals similar to this. I first read about twine binding about 30 years ago when it was used in an archives to bind old manuscripts, so I had the basic idea. I made the mistake of trying to wrap the twine around the signatures and the binding at the same time. That didn't work out nearly so well.

Do you mean fabric strips? It could work, but keep in mind that it will sit in the fold of the paper sections inside your book, adding thickness there. It's always good to experiment with the supplies you have and this style is easily tried and tested. Happy crafting! :)

lol where do i start lol. i'm trying to work out signatures and if i should deco the pages before or after i sew them in
@debbieanneEVG8 жыл бұрын
+Tania Smith Ok well if you're using the twine binding they're removable and not actually sewn in so any tricky deco can be done before or after. I personally bind first and then deco after. Except for stamping, which I do when pages can be laid flat on a hard surface - makes a better stamp impression. I've got a great new info site you'll want to browse and you can even ask your questions there: www.vintagejunkjournals.com/. It's packed with info for newbies to jj's and lots more to come. Would love to see you there :)
