General Tips on Playing With Both Hands
1. Learn the piece, example, etc hands separate first, then put hands together.
2. Play SLOWLY
3. When first learning to play hands together, avoid examples with complicated rhythms.
1. Scales
Scales are a good way for beginners to develop dexterity and coordination when playing keyboard with both hands. This is because playing scales involves playing notes in synch with one another. Usually scales are played with the same rhythm in both hands, so no worries trying to play different rhythms and concentrating on notes at the same time.
Where should you start? Start with the C Major scale and learn it hands separate. Then try playing the scale ascending very slowly with both hands. Once you are able to play the scale ascending, learn the scale descending. Then play the scale ascending and descending. Learn 1 scale a week until you can play all the major scales slowly. Then gradually increase the tempo over weeks to achieve greater speed.
Here is a scale exercise. Start with C Major and play up the scale with half notes in the right hand while playing whole notes in the left hand. Then do the same but with half notes in the left hand and whole notes in the right had.
2. Hanon
Are great for developing two handed dexterity between both hands. These are for playing in parallel meaning you are playing the same intervals at the same time. Try learning one a day or one a week until you learn them all. Play them slow at first then over weeks gradually increase the tempo.
www.hanon-onlin...
3. Czerny
These are highly recommended for practice playing different rhythms and pitches for each hand.

I have a perfect exercise that helped me a lot! Basically, you do like this: Do-Mi-Fa-Sol-La and then you come back Sol-Fa-Mi-Re and doing that from the start to the end of the keyboard. First practice with the right hand, then the left and then both. When you learned it try to do it backwards: La-Fa-Mi-Re-Do and you come back: Re-Mi-Fa-Sol. I don't know if you got it, search for Hanon Exercise and you'll find it!

It's actually more difficult to learn it one hand at a time. My piano teachers have always said begin learning with both hands. Work on the first measure first, starting with the first two keys that appear. Also, don't go past the notes if you can't do it smoothely, meaning don't pass go until you fix the glitch. Everything else he said is legit.

Another thing that I find helpful is to pay some attention to how notes from different hands sync together. Within each line, there tend to be a few pairs of notes that should be played at the same time. {Using those pairs as pivots to sync two hands together} makes me confidently confirms I'm indeed syncing two hands correctly. I don't even spend much effort in reading this pair-syncing before playing. Once you play the line correctly a few times very slowly, you probably can get a feeling of those syncing pairs. Just look to sync those pairs when playing in the future.

here's several ideas for how to learn piano Try practicing about 1 hour each day, or 1/2 an hour if you are very busy. Do extra practice whenever you can. For example, on weekends you can do more than an hour, maybe 2 or 3, or even more. This is useful because it pulls you out of the routine of piano playing, and lets you practice more and perfects the pieces you play. (I learned about these and more on Denelle Piano Lesson site )

That was a very interesting article, here are a few more tips on how to play the piano… Try practicing about an hour each day, or just 30 minutes if you are very busy. Do more practice whenever you have more time. For example, on weekends you can do more than 1 hour, like 2 or 3, or even more. This is very helpful because it pulls you out of the routine of piano playing, and lets you practice more and perfect the pieces you play. Listen to the song or piano piece you are playing. For example, if you are taking piano lessons and are about to play a new piece, you can try searching on the internet for videos or songs and hear how it sounds. This can be very helpful because it teaches you how a song is played and lets you recognize the 'emotion,' the piece is giving off. Try not to look at the dynamics in a piece, as rules you cannot break. For example, if the piece starts with an 'mp' (mezzo-piano) it only means 'moderately soft' these dynamics don't have specific volume levels. If you are practicing, you don't need to play accordingly and then have a difficulty hearing yourself, you should only play as it tells you when you are actually trying to play it properly. (I learned about these and more from Denelle Piano Lesson site )

I don't have difficulty with any of the things you say in this video. The thing is, when I play a song where it's almost syncopation (for example, the beginning of eigth notes on the left hand align with the middle of quarter notes on the right). I can place "markers" at certain notes so I know where to move my right hand but it isn't enough for more complex rhythms.

hanks for a very interesting article, here are a few more tips on how to play the piano… Try practicing about 1 hour a day, or just 30 minutes if you short of time. Do extra practice whenever you have more time. For example, on weekends you can do more than 1 hour, like 2 or three, or even more. This is very helpful because it pulls you out of the routine of piano playing, and lets you practice more and perfect the pieces you play. Listen to the song or piano piece you are playing. This can be very helpful because it teaches you how a song is played and lets you recognize the 'emotion,' the piece is giving off. Practice sight-reading and don't worry about making mistakes. This can be very helpful, because it's almost like scanning a paragraph and looking at the picture. It helps you to understand what the passage is trying to convey before you actually read it and lets you know what comes next. This is the same with music, and it can help you stop making mistakes. (I read about these and more on Denelle piano lesson website )

Just started learning piano. Played guitar for fifteen years so the theory, rythem has bee easy to pick up and I have good control over my fingers. But playing both hands at once is really challenging. It reminds me of when I first started trying to sing and play guitar. It took months to get good at it

I started playing piano just yesterday and when I play with my Right Hand i can only do it with one finger because I mess up if I use my other fingers. Then when I use my left hand it gets even harder. Another thing I have trouble is recognizing the notes, using all 5 fingers, and moving my hands left and right.

I mean it’s impossible to play with both hands desync! Like, I’m currently learning an easy song. I practiced a lot my left hand, I know it by heart, and same for my right hand. I know everything by heart! But when I have to use both hands at the same time, I just can’t! As if I didn’t remember anything like, can’t play with them together, it’s making me go crazy because I’m practicing a lot and I can’t play with two hands! What’s wrong with me?
