Just what I needed today! Thank you for sharing this video. I have a question about lip trills, does it make a difference what vowel I am thinking about when I do that? I used to do it while thinking about [u] but my tongue might be too suppressed so I started thinking [i], which feels more forward but I am not sure if that is right?

I am so glad to hear that and I love this question!! So thoughtful!! So this definitely makes a difference for me. I actually use the lip trills as an opportunity to imagine how the vowel will feel when I sing it. If you feel like your tongue is depressing the sound then go for a brighter "AH" vowel since these exercises are all pre-passaggio. I also like a bright Italian "i" vowel to get the tongue root higher. Hope that helps and thank you for supporting our page!!

Hello! Great video as always! I have a random question... How do you approach coloratura passages, meaning really fast notes? I feel like I can't get past to a certain metronome, without the passage getting 'sloppy'. I'm really obsessing about it, probably too much 😕 (I'm a soprano leggero)

So swollen doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong with my vocal cords?
