Like the german I am, I went out and bought the best supplies and watched about thirty of Mako's videos before even attempting to put brush to paper. Her soothing voice, calming confidence, perfect instructions, and relaxing music finally got me to dip my brush. Seriously, it's got to be so easy, right? I mean, really? The first sunset did not blend at all, even though I followed the instructions to a fault. It was a mess of colors. Now I realize, it's practice, practice, and practice some more. I ordered the book and look forward to failing miserably until I don't.

These are so lovely! My grandfather was a watercolor artists and he used to set us up next to him with our own papers. Learning how to have a much lighter touch was a hard one for us. This takes me back.

It depends on the color wheel- you shouldn't mix colors that's directly opposite of it or else your gonna get a pop color

I do have a video idea. I have a windsor newton water color palette and I am always confused on what colors go together in order to not make the paints appear too muddy and blend naturally. My very first watercolor project complete, and it was this :) Thanks for all the great lessons. I had a paper issue and determined I didn't care for the Strathmore watercolor book I ordered, it pulped up (pilled up, balled up, mulched up, whatever) in areas that I'd go over a 2nd time and every time after that... it was really frustrating (especially just trying to dab away some clouds in the blue sky, ugh). But, it still turned out pretty well, and I was able to kind of brush away some of the little paper "buds" after it was dry. I ordered a different all cotton paper book to practice with, even though it was like $25, seems like fighting paper issues will make practicing more fun. Now, gonna try your coffee cups project! :D
