Really love the background. I don't like Aquaboard it feels really gritty with my brushes. I have 2 small pieces of it, 1 has been washed a few times and the other I've never toucnhed.
@EmilyOlsonArt4 жыл бұрын
That’s ok! It is definitely a surface that takes getting used to! I like how it kind of encourages me to paint more loosely. Have you seen Ali Cavanaugh’s work? She paints exclusively on aquabord and her portraits are phenomenal!
@chanelcreadora65703 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that whenever painting on an aquaboard, one should wet the entire board before painting and let that layer dry. This is to get rid of any air bubbles in the clay layer. Skipping this step may result in a speckled look where the air bubbles pop from inside the clay once wet. In addition it is better if you let an aquaboard dry naturally rather than using a heat tool or hair dryer.
@EmilyOlsonArt3 жыл бұрын

My background was okay, but when I did the fish, the color and water just bled out into the water and I ruined it ☹
@EmilyOlsonArt3 жыл бұрын
That's ok! I still do that, too sometimes! I hope you'll give it another try! 🙂
@mydogeatspuke3 жыл бұрын
Did you wait for the blue to dry completely before you started with the orange? If the background is still wet when you start painting the fish then everything will join together like rain into a puddle.
@winteress273 жыл бұрын
@@mydogeatspuke I used a hair dryer to dry the background first, but I think I used too much water when filling in the fish. At first, it looked like it was going okay, then moments later the water/colors from the fish bled out.
@mydogeatspuke3 жыл бұрын
@@winteress27 oh, yeah, knowing how much water to use can be really hard at first. If you have a lamp or a torch on your phone, you should just be able to see a slight shine on your paper surface under direct light. If there's a puddle of water that you could soak up with a paper towel then you've used wayyyyyy too much. It just takes practice!
