Can you use top coat nail polish as a substitute top coat?
@pmanliu3 ай бұрын
Can you panel line before applying the decals with the setter and softer? Or will it effect the panel lines and the ink runs off.

Will microfiber cloth work fine for cleaning the part before applying the decals
@oeufski7 күн бұрын
A microfiber cloth should be fine, you can also use water if you want to avoid the alcohol.

By far the most daunting part of gunpla. I can't bring myself to spend countless hours putting slides or dry transfers on one kit let alone the 20 I build a month
@JBAEE65 ай бұрын
That's unfortunate then
@KisekiFan4 ай бұрын
try dividing building and putting decal, try to put decal after building one part then move on to build another part, personal opinion but i find this way of doing things less daunting.

some of my decals are peeling off probably becasue I oversoaked is there a glue I can use to re adhere them on?
@oeufski3 күн бұрын
I would recommend the Mark Setter solution I use in the video it acts as an adhesive. If the glue on the decals is completely gone you can be a little heavy with the solution and just dab away the excess with a cotton swab once it’s reset.

Good day! I'd like to know if the gouf is painted and topcoated prior to applying decals? My bad I can't distinguish it throughout the tutorial hehe looks kind of semi gloss to me
@oeufskiАй бұрын
The Gouf has not been painted or topcoated beforehand.

Sick tutorial, thanks! Quick question: what if I use matte top coat on luminous (glow in the dark) ? Not sure but I think they are similar to holo? That’s my particular situation and I don’t have semi gloss or gloss. I intended to matte top this kit but didn’t consider the water slides
@matthewvalentyn7513 ай бұрын
do you feel like the dusting/brush over with rubbing alcohol is enough to clean? I've seen people say soaking is essential but I don't want to soak combined and closed pieces that may fill with water.
@oeufski2 ай бұрын
In this case yes I would say the dusting and alcohol is enough. You could go an extra step and use a lint free towelette when doing the final wipe off to be sure. The only time I actually wash my models with soap and water is after I strip off old paint.

Can I do panel lining and apply decals after the robot is all built ? I’d like to see the robot as a whole while doing them
@oeufski2 ай бұрын
Yes you can! Depending on the model it may be easier to do one way or another. With this Gouf model I put all the decals on the body while assembled so I could check the symmetry.

Do you have to topcoat your kit after applying the waterslides
@oeufski11 ай бұрын
It’s not mandatory but I would recommend it! Helps seal it up and saves your work!

So I recently got into gunpla and am on my 2nd model that came with water slide decals. So i tried applying without the setter and softer or any coat cause i live in a country where Gunpla isn't sold in retail so tools are unavailable and needs to be ordered online and shipped, anyways while it sets properly sometimes i find that some of them come off and sticks to my hand or finger when handling the model: 1: Is this because i didn't clean the surface with alcohol or is it because a setter is needed to stick more properly? 2: If i get a setter can i apply it on the top of the decal cause i already put in some of the decals? 3: Does the setter work on regular sticks and dry add ons as well or only water slides? 4: Is a top coat really necessary or just the setter is enough?

I’m going to get some flack for this but I really like the krylon rattle can matte finish. Haven’t had any issues with it and it’s cheap. Mr. Hobby also makes a matte & gloss top coat sprays that work well too.
@SolidJake12135 ай бұрын
See if it were like this, I think I'd have no problem, but I, against the judgment of others, use the decals from the box the model came from, and I have a hard getting them off of the clear sheet they are stuck on.
@mattr.18042 жыл бұрын
I noticed you’re not really using that “rolling over” method with the qtips. Looks like you’re just normally dragging them across the decal to push the extra moisture out. Do you find that technique to be unnecessary? I’ve even seen little tools that are made specifically around this “rolling” principal.
@oeufski2 жыл бұрын
On smaller waterslides like your standard caution signs for 1/144 & 1/100 scale kits I will roll the Q-Tip more because those smaller decals are more likely to move around. In this case since I was using a larger decal I ended up just running the Q-top over the surface to force out the moisture under the decal. I think the technique is good and I use it when I’m working in a slower fashion and really focusing.
@mattr.18042 жыл бұрын
@@oeufski ohh okay, that makes sense. I really appreciate your timely response; I’m getting ready to do my RG tallgeese and I’m just trying to psych myself up. I bought two sheets of waterslides just incase haha

after applying waterslide decals, do you still have to top coat it? or is it good as it is? and are these top coat sprays safe on plastics?

Topcoat is optional but recommended especially if you’ll be handling your model often.

Hey question. I have the rx-78 pg unleashed. I’m soaking them for a while over a minute and it seems they don’t want to slide off ? Any ideas
@willwhiting21327 ай бұрын
Hey, I don’t know if you’ve gotten this figured out yet, but the RX-78 PG Unleashed comes with stickers not water slides. You can apply them like regular stickers or buy a set of water slides for the kit from a 3rd party seller. Hope this helps.
