I have a Gas One kettle just like yours - it really is solid gold and a great value. I've been installling Blichmann BrewVisions in my pots lately instead of brewing thermometers. Cheers!

Myself, I would add a thermowell. A little extra cost. But will save the life of the thermometer.

Since this is just for my sparge water I didn't really want to spend a lot of money, But definitely more options out there.

Do you want the Teflon tape in contact with the wort? Seems like contamination potential.

Yes. It will not contaminate your wort. Chances are most of your faucets in your house have Teflon tape put on them and you drink out of that.

The Teflon tape should be wrapped in the opposite direction.

You actually do it in the same clockwise direction so it doesn't unravel as you're threading on the nut.

It looks like you’re doing it counter clockwise. Maybe I’m not seeing it right.
