For a much better Result you wanna apply this over a 2k clear gloss black surface. and after mutiple passes of graphite - wash it off - graphite over and over. you wanna use another 2k clear over the graphite. it wont dull it and you have a mirror like chrome finish.

Awesome video! I will definitely try it! Which mandalorian helmet model are you using?
@VaderDadBuilds5 ай бұрын
I bought that helmet before I started 3D printing. I will be doing videos of updating all my armor and will be providing all the free STLs I use.

@@VaderDadBuilds no problem! i have a replica of the master sword from zelda that ive been meaning to finish but i could never find a tutorial on that graphite stuff. how do you think this will work on matte colors? im hoping to make a flat blue kind of metallic looking.
@VaderDadBuilds5 ай бұрын
I suggest testing with the plastic spoons first. You don't want a finish over your hard work that you don't like. It would be interesting to see what different colors under the graphite.

I wonder if this would work with mica powders for nails to get other colors?

Great question! I thought the same thing myself when I was working on these. I haven't had a chance to test it out, but I'll let you know once I do.

What would you do if after you put the powder on and your not happy with it? Would the 2nd layer of powder maybe fix that problem?
@VaderDadBuilds21 күн бұрын
Yes, you basically re-do the last steps in the video. Add a layer of clear coat, let it dry some, but not fully cure, then add more powder.

Would this work on already painted plastic?
@VaderDadBuilds2 ай бұрын
You can try starting with the clear coat step to get the graphite to stick.

That looks very metallic indeed. I wonder if the graphite coating makes the surface fully conductive to allow for electro-chemical deposition of real metal on the surface.
@VaderDadBuilds5 ай бұрын
Great question! Maybe I'll need to try that in a future video.

You're right, LOL I just looked at the can again. I have used both the smoke and coastal. Must have been the smoke in the video. Both will work. I have not used the charcoal.

I sprayed clear and it faded instantly, any suggestions?
@VaderDadBuildsАй бұрын
Once the clear coat is 100% cured, you can try 1 more layer of clear coat, then add the graphite again after 5-6 hours.
