I love the videos, and the ideas for projects I can do when I get my shop more operational. But every time I see you stick your pencil in the circular saw, I think of my uncle, him and my dad were notorious for disabling the guards on their circular saws. Well one day my uncle was cutting something and he had a kickback that took him in the crotch and he cut the head of his wang off 3/4 of the way through. Doc said he got kinda close to a main artery too. Be safe brother. My uncle also lost not one but two fingers thanks to mixing Jack Daniels and a radial arm saw.

Quick check with the AI turned this up. While "yakisugi" and "shou sugi ban" both refer to the Japanese technique of charring wood for preservation, "yakisugi" is the authentic Japanese term, specifically referring to the use of Japanese cypress wood, whereas "shou sugi ban" is a Western interpretation that can encompass a broader range of charred wood techniques, often used more generally to describe the process without strict adherence to traditional Japanese methods; essentially, "yakisugi" is considered the more accurate term for the traditional practice, while "shou sugi ban" is a more widely used term in the West, sometimes even used incorrectly to describe similar charring techniques not originating from Japan. So, since you are not using traditional techniques nor traditional wood, I'd say you are good with saying Shou Sugi Ban.
