Hi James, your sesquipedalian words video is enthralling! 🤣 Propably the people say lackadaisical with an 's' because it sounds like to be from lax like laxadaisical. 😜 Finally in your other videos I noticed that you ofttimes use 'often' with the prononciation of the 't'. I was wondering, because I never heard before! And now I know why, it must be common in your region 😉😎 like the two 't' in ofttimes, crazy engisch, you know 🤪superb video, well done! 👌

Hi James. For the last year and a half I have been watching all your videos , and getting my BRIT on, lol. I have a friend from London who’s a little cocky, and even he’s impressed! But I really would love you to do a video on the sayings and pronunciations (besides the accent) that we as Americans and you as Brits have the most differentiating pronunciations. For instance I’m watching this video right now, and there have been several, but one is how we both pronounce squirrel. Then this one now is what you’re calling “Draft” for us, (draught), it actually looks like what we would call drought, which means without water. So I would love to see some of the differences. There are a lot of nouns that you pronounce the heaviness in a completely different place than we do. Please let me know if you have that video already and I’ve missed it….thank you!!!

Great video But is often with the t sound british accent or American accent ?
@receivedSE3 жыл бұрын
My experience is this: I know that many English words are very difficult for non-native speakers of English to pronounce. However, no matter how difficult an English word is, everyone can be successful in pronouncing it if he knows simplified phonetic symbols, especially those which were introduced by Prof. A.C. Gimson in his works "Daniel Jones' English Pronouncing Dictionary, Dent, 1977". I know it is considered to be old-fashioned RP now, but it is the easiest for non-native speakers of English....the phonetic symbols employed are not complicated. Pronunciation is a habit. If a learner of English as a foreign language masters English phonetic symbols and if he repeats the difficult English word again and again like a cassette, he will have no problem acquiring good English pronunciation.
