H Helga Y It just depends on you. If you want to be quite safe when attending parties and walking at night then you need to stay at a more expensive city or get a boyfriend who stays close to you there. If you want it cheap and get drugs then you can go to cheap cities like Berlin. It's fun there but I wouldn't have walked around there if I weren't a boy and not that tall.

H Helga Y I admit that I'm maybe overprotective and maybe you're ok if you have good friends to go with but never go alone and you'll notice when a club is full of drug dealers. I just wouldn't let my girlfriend walk alone there because it's not unusual that girls have problems there.

I was absolutely shocked with the prices of everything in Germany, so so cheap compared to Costa Rica! What surprised me the most on a supermarket was the price of smoked salmon, which was like 4€, while here in Costa Rica it would be the equivalent of 15€ or so. Also, the price of the food on fine restaurants were what you would pay for regular or average restaurants in here!

I love this show. I watch it in half speed, and I learn a lot when doing this. I live in Massachusetts, USA. Anyways, I've been to Berlin 3 times: July 2018, July 2019, and October 2019. It's my favorite place in the world. I found most everything very cheap there. The only thing expensive was WATER! When I go to a restaurant with an empty bottle, I'll ask the owners if they can give me tap water, and they won't do this for me. I hate this inconvenience, because bottled water is expensive - moreso than beer.

Brad Weber You would have to pay for the can deposit anyway, which in some cases is just a bit cheaper than the beer itself (25 cents). Then again, you could bring back the cans and get the deposit back, but it happens rarely to actually do that with cans, especially when partying. That’s why bottled beer is better (and tastes better)! 😁

- Ich bin also gerade in Berlin!

May I ask what sort of accent Maria has? I noticed that some women speakers of German have this emphasis on the 'a' sorts of sounds, and I'm wondering if it's a dialect thing, or more of a female speech pattern phenomenon like Californians with their vocal fry. Vielen Dank!

As a native German I rate her: no accent, no dialect. That leeds me to the idear, that she grow up in the Hannover Region (the Honnover dialect is the one from wich high German was derivatied) or she is a native Scandinavian (maybe Norway) who learned all rules perfectly. The only word she used, that contradicted this idears a bit, is the Tschüß she said while leaving the store after paying for the appels. Tschüß points more to the Rhineland area, but if she grew up in the Rhineland area, I would expect some other aspects in her language, which I can't find. At 0:27 she started to make a grammer mistake, wich she fixed immediately, but that could although happen to a native German speaker if you are still thinking while talking. However, her German is close to perfect and far more than only useable.
