Gavin, this guidance is hugely helpful. I’ve gotten bits and pieces of this before, but you’ve brought it all together here in a masterful way. Thank you!

A simple “like” can in no way justify that value of the information you are handing out in these tutorials. You have made my journey much more fun (and complicated) :-)

A few additional handy (maybe) tricks for the F-PLN in the MCDU (Gavin probably knows them anyway, but a few viewers might not): 1st: Remember the "AIRPORT" button below the F-PLN button on the MCDU. It jumps the flight plan down to your destination, so you don't have to scroll down that much if you're checking/modifying/entering an approach. 2nd: You can add constraints right at the flight plan by typing in "x/" or "/y" or of course "x/y" in the scratchpad and then press the appropriate RSK for the waypoint with "x" being the speed and "y" being the altitude constraint you want to set.

Great tutorial as always. Another, maybe for some people more easy way to calculate the landing weight would be to go to "FUEL PRED". There you will find your ZFW weight. Just add the fuel left at the destination and you will also have your landing weight.

A third way to reduce weight before landing is to throw all coffee pots in the draining sinks , wich just goes overboard.. that also creates those nice stipes of coffee underneath the fuselage.. ;)))

@@nikolatr71 right, and it's (almost) complete right from the start, rather than having to find workarounds for things that don't work. It's only time to move on and take advantage of the possibilities we have today. Amen 😅

Feel sorry for the FBW team. They worked so hard on their aircraft. Then this comes along and knocks theirs out the park. Ok fenix is payware but if serious simmers are looking for realism and study level simulation. Payware will trump free every time.

@@madsib5187 C your pt. @mad sib but afraid cannot agree w/ it. Fbw s response to numerous inquiries by us- users was suboptimal and that to say at mildest.. Three version of the same plane w/ numerous call it I don't kno man really: fixes/up dates that started yielding fruit in terms of Vnav and plane became flyable for me at the very end. Will judge them based on mere - facts, not wisful thinking. At least, w/ Feni I see that prob. of Vnan already overcome, and clear, focussed message and strong PR, which was lackin on side of Fbw team. That showed from the standpt. of PM work strictly a lack of- selfconfidence in their work. Do not sound too harsh, but differenc eis significant. Several othe planes I flew as CRJ 550, 700, 900 series, B787- 10- had a quick Discord turnover but am afraid not Fbw. Loss of lot of time in their basically learning by "trial en error" method as to me their Cs was- suboptimal and unfocussed, at mildest to say.

Very helpful videos thanks Gavin. The problem I have with this aircraft in VR is that looking at the EFB then moving elsewhere in the cockpit really plays havoc with WMR and motion reprojection. Hopefully one day someone will fix this but in the meantime I’ll struggle on with non immersive workarounds lol 😂

Wouldn't it be easier to figure out your landing weight by just taking ur zero fuel weight and adding ur landing fuel to it? Great tutorials btw.

I have been flying the Fenix 320 for a while now and followed A320 Si mPilot's videos as well as yours. however, NONE tell me how to get the V-Speeds on the EFB! I can do the departure performance - which gives you the speeds to then set in the MCDU - but on the arrival performance page, whilst I do everything you have just described, how do you get the actual landing speeds calculated? At the moment, I'm using the speeds shown on the PERF/APPR page, but as I get closer to the landing, I find that the CLN speed shown on the initial calculation check, has changed! So I guess I am asking how do you arrive at the correct landing speeds (V-speeds) ? Do you do the calc on the EFB and transfer them to the MCDU or do them in the MCDU ? Thanks
@Easyjetsimpilot9 ай бұрын
The Vapp speed is calculated by the MCDU/FMGS so not on the EFB.
@TheVirtualAirlinePilot9 ай бұрын
@@Easyjetsimpilot ok so just putting the expected landing weight in the EFB will allow the correct V speeds to appear on the MCDU? Nothing to transfer from the EFB to the MCDU like you do with the takeoff speeds? Thank you. That’s answers a really mystifying problem for me
@ChrisMuellerMusic8 ай бұрын
@@TheVirtualAirlinePilot you‘ll have to enter the arrival data (qnh, wind, choose flaps 3 or full and that stuff) in the MCDU. The aircraft even asks you to do so in an amber color if you don’t. As far as I know, it calculates the speeds from that.
@TheVirtualAirlinePilot8 ай бұрын
@@ChrisMuellerMusic Hello Chris and thanks for replying. To be honest, that's what I have been doing so far, entering it all in the MCDU. So you go into the Arrival Perfoemace AFTER entering the data into the MCDU? Ok cool. Thanks. Lee
@ChrisMuellerMusic8 ай бұрын
@@TheVirtualAirlinePilot at least that is what he says in the next video in the playlist where this one is also in. The reason is, that you want to put in weather info as late as possible since that is likely to change. He says about 30 to 40 minutes prior landing is the earliest. So yeah, arrivals and approaches first, and landing data after that.

So on touch down you do idle and reverse thrust but i see other pilots do idle at 30 feet altough i believe og idle at touch down will make a more stable and smitter landing whats right correct me if you will😅
@Easyjetsimpilot Жыл бұрын
Start reducing thrust to idle at about 30ft. Each landing is different though. With a tailwind, you might want to keep thrust on a moment longer.

I watched this video without watching the videos before this one. Doesn’t the entry of of FMC data such as the Approach phase values such as arrival airport QNH, wind,bardo etc belong in the topic of descent planning?
@Easyjetsimpilot2 жыл бұрын
I don't personally enter the approach info until around 30-40 mins away, otherwise you could have out of date metar data in there by the time your on the final approach, so this will be in the next video 😉

These are great videos and I appreciate your time and patience. I flew the 'Bus for a year at Spirit before my present job and love keeping my hand in it. I flew my first flight from AVL to MCO yesterday and things went very smoothly. One issue I had was with takeoff performance calculations. Trying to pull data for AVL I was unable to select a departure runway. Is there a list of airports with available data for takeoff and landing performance calculation published?
@Easyjetsimpilot2 жыл бұрын
The Fenix has most airports in its database as far as I'm aware. There maybe some exceptions, but this should be rare.
