Before you directed to TELBA about 18nm it was V/S-400 mode then suddenly became OP DES at 17 nm as you pushed managed speed .Did you pull ALT or it did a mode reversion ? then you set V/S again.Thanks for brillant videos.

Been really struggling with this aspect lately so perfect timing! Pun intended! ETA: Really helped with a flight from LPPT / LEPA. Actively *chose* the RNAV approach over my usual ILS so now I have the confidence to do 'lesser' airports. :)

Brilliant Gav, and some incredible useful tips which i will be following from now. May i humbly ask if you can do a Approach & Landing with Vectors, in particularly things like Extending Runway centre line. I want to be prepared for a Vectored 'Vatsim' landing next time i come into LHR and they have a controller/Approach etc. Thank you Again for this and ur Live Streams

Vectored approach are usually the easiest and the most straight forward. ATC will put you right at where you need to be to intercept the ils or start a visual. The only mistake you could do is not descending quicky enough. Usually if you smell that you gonna be vectored or given a shortcut for the approach, dont follow anymore your fmx descent path. If ATC tells you "descend FL070", you just start an open descent and dont descent slowly because you think you are too low from your mcdu descent path.

Gavin, you mentioned several FCU modes, but not the Flight-Path-Angle (FPA). Could you have set -3 deg at your top-of-descent point? Wouldn't that keep you on profile?

That all depends on the airport. Remember the profile is also taking into account speed constraints and altitude restrictions, wind speed/direction, so it's usually not just a perfect 3° FPA all the way down.

Excellent video, as always. Learned a ton from you already. Curious - I see you swapped to managed speed as you were doing final approach there, but were still on selected altitude (I think - maybe you switched and I missed it). What's the general rule regarding those as you're landing? Does the plane automatically control altitude once GS has been captured? Thanks!

Yes if you have APPR mode armed, it will capture and descend with the glide slope.

Love yer video Mr easyJet but I always find it hard to put the fuel in the computer on the flight deck. Like the block fuel and other things on the airbus that you fly. Have watched your live stream too. I play on Xbox series s just so ya know. Have a great day

I'm not sure about xbox, but the PC aircraft are refuelled using the EFB (Tablet)

Had you used an FSLabs simulation you would have made it easier! Fenix is the new 'kid on the block' but lacks the expertise on FS Labs.

It is the Fenix Simulations A320.

Why cut the videos when you way above you descent path then starting again we past the 10000ft, same when you went direct to TEBLA, cut video at 250 speed, you trying to show people how to manage energy but you cutting video out 🤔

This is just the way the video was edited. The 10,000ft cut wasn't due to being high. As you can see from the profile and level off point, we were always going to be fine with the energy management here. The DIR TEBLA induced a sim bug where the level off arrow for some reason didn't appear first time around, so off camera, we circled around to do it again and this time, we got the level off arrow which of course is needed to show how to manage things. There's also the fact that during a tutorial video, I like to go into further details and explain things which of course, takes time to do - that's not something you'd do irl of course so your concentration isn't split between jobs. To see it all working in live real time, please check out the live streamed approaches with live ATC as well.

I mainly fly fenix a320 but I seem to never get the blue ring on final approach you get most of the time

@@neondreams2337 Speed restrictions are often waived in reality. And in absence of ATC (online), controlling your own speed can help maintain separation and keep things moving.
