Hey friends! A comment I saw a bit of in my original "how to eat for $10 at the Dollar Tree" video was that a lot of y'all don't have cold sections at your local Dollar Tree. So I decided to do another $10 Dollar Tree video, and this time I use only the shelf stable, non refrigerated items.
This video is a demonstration in how to grocery shop and meal plan on an extremely limited budget and with access to only a non traditional grocery store. If you are struggling to feed yourself or your family, please reach out to the resources around you for assistance.
Whether you are looking for frugal meal ideas, how to use Dollar Tree ingredients, or just want to watch an extreme budget grocery challenge, I hope this video gives you something useful or entertaining =)

I go backpacking on the Appalachian Trail, and many times, the only resupply in small towns is a Dollar Store. If you get the "Just Add Water" Pancake Mix, and use a 50/50 combination of Flour & Pancake Mix, some Salt, and enough water to form a thick batter, you can make skillet biscuits.

I love these cheap dinners! Walmart has a 1 lb. tube of frozen ground turkey (less than $2) - comes in Italian, Taco, & Plain flavors. Its really good too. I also buy their beef liver (less than $3). Maybe cheap Walmart dinners now & again would be interesting too? BTW, your soothing voice, coupled with a relaxed friendly demeanor & intelligent speaking makes your videos a joy to watch.😀👍👍

In Korea, there’s a soup called Sujebi - which translates to dough flake or hand torn noodles. The dough is so simple to make with only flour, salt, water, and a little oil. You could easily make a dough like your flatbread dough and pull apart into noodles and cook straight in broth and veggies from the Dollar Tree. Simple yet comforting and hearty! I host a frugal Facebook group and suggested this video to my group. I told them even if they hesitate to purchase food items from Dollar Tree or feel a $10.00 menu plan is not for them, videos such as yours can spark ideas and information that can help them reduce their food costs, inspire new ,and varied meals So thank you for posting this. Lastly, when I have fresh fruit that is close to spoiling I cut it up into small pieces without sugar and just a tiny bit of water so it doesn't burn and then put it in the microwave one to two minutes to soften it stir and enjoy in Oatmeal, on Toast, Crackers this version of a Fruit Spread is the same as yours and is delicious, inexpensive, and healthy

All of my local Dollar Tree’s have a fridge/freezer section. I just LOVE their bags of frozen veggies! I found a Southwestern corn/black bean/pepper/onion mix and made a chicken chili with some rotisserie chicken, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes with chilies, chili spices, salt and pepper. I added shredded cheese on top. My husband ate EVERY bite. I also used the same rotisserie chicken and made cream of chicken soup in the crockpot. With 2 large cans of cream of chicken soup, 2 TBs of butter, a carton of chicken broth, a cup of milk, carrots, celery, salt, pepper, a little garlic powder and shell shaped noodles. It turns out really thick like a stew. We eat it for days on end because it’s just SO good! Could you make some rotisserie chicken recipes?? I just LOVE how versatile they are. I bring them home, immediately take off all the meat, shred it up good and freeze it in portions for meals. You can literally make anything with them! I’d love to see how you’d work your magic!!

Rotisserie chickens are such a good value. I got 2 for $10.00 a few weeks ago, and after stripping them down, I made bone broth with the bones, skin and bits of meat that stuck to the bones. I added water, an onion, garlic, celery, tomatoes, a carrot, pepper corns and a bay leaf as well as salt and simmered it all for a couple hours. I also added a little wine. I strained it in a dish towel, and the result was a lovely broth.

I just had to move away from a DT now I'm closer to a DG; They have cut up bell peppers mixed with onions that I can mix into other foods like frozen corn, or make a casserole if I add chicken to it as well.

If you have a little brown sugar and margarine you could make a small fruit crisp. Oats can also be turned into oat flour.

Hey, I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your videos! You’re down to earth and frugal and I appreciate the information you give out. It’s useful for anyone. If someone is not in the situation where they NEED to shop & cook this way, they should still watch, so they will have the knowledge when they could be. It’s kind of like depression cooking, which is what I grew up with and still retain to this day. Creamed peas on toast, from that era, is still a favorite and a comfort food at our house. So thanks for the lessons you’re teaching all of us! Great content!

MIddle Georgia here. Our DT's have freezer sections but they are usually very small and haven't had much selection this past year. Mostly the very basics like ice creams and sandwich meat.

I would have added soy sauce and hot sauce to the peanut sauce to make a spicy satay but other than that I think this was a great video! Thank you.

I don’t know if anyone else made this suggestion but you could have turned the peanut sauce into a Thai peanut sauce by adding some of the hot sauce, soy sauce, and garlic powder. I think I would have opted for another can of veggies instead of the Vienna bites. The veggies would have gone well with the noodles in peanut sauce. Plus you had complete protein in the dish with the Vienna bites from the combination of beans and rice. I think the inclusion of the flour was a great idea so you could have the bread and pasta options in you menu. Great job!

My Dollar Tree has very little frozen or refrigerated food. I live in Southeast Kansas and we also have no food banks or similar resources. The nearest foodbank is three hours away. in Wichita, Kansas.

Oh! Fyi, you can put olive oil and salt on that oatmeal. Oh it’s so yum!!! Giada, from Food Network, eats it like that. For variety.

Depends on which Dollar Tree I decide to go to. There are 4 of them within 30 minutes of my house. Two of them have a frozen section. I'm from an economically depressed area in Southern California. It's been that way for-EVER, even before Covid...Love your extreme budget videos!

Great ideas.. 🤗 when we have lots of left overs we add the left over into a tortilla and make a burrito out of it and freeze it . Then when ever no one cooks or running low on grocerys you pull them out and pop them on the stove or in the microwave . We call them suprise burritos lol . Never know what youll get in your burrito ..lol
