This whole video made me smile. We grew up poor - but we never knew we were until we were older and kids were mean at school - cause my mom always made sure we were fed, and felt loved - I think that's where my own love of cooking has come from - and it's a joy to see you doing that for you and yours. You can make meager resources look like a bounty.

My husband loves Turkey and as we live in Australia Turkey is a treat only eaten at Christmas, well at least for us. Christmas day we do a cold lunch of Turkey, Ham, German potato salad, mixed green salad, coleslaw, and king prawns with home made seafood sauce. We have drinks, along with a charcuterie board, dips and crackers for starters. Dessert is a choice of hot Christmas pudding, brandy custard, pavlova topped with fresh whipped cream and raspberries, strawberries, blue berries, kiwi fruit, and grated milk chocolate . My brother always brings a cheesecake too. So much food to choose from. I love your channel, you are easy to watch and listen to. Merry Christmas.

I love this video. Brings back good memories! My mom and grandma were the cooks! I remember both of them working for days on the meal (same with Thanksgiving). We would have the traditional turkey and dressing. We would stuff the turkey and then have baked dressing on the side as well. As the years went on and mom and grandma passed on, my sister would take Christmas and I would take Thanksgiving. Each one of us would try to make it our own but nothing was better than the days when mom and grandma were in the kitchen. We are now in different states and no longer get together on the holidays. But for my family, we changed from turkey or ham to a beef tenderloin or a crown roast. Always so much more than we can eat! With that I fix twice baked potatoes, (sometimes mashed as well) along with a Yorkshire pudding, gravy, deviled eggs, roasted brussels sprouts and steamed broccoli as well. All in all, its about the food but more about the memories. This year, it will be my son and his fiancé's turn to take over. I'm passing the helm to them. It's wonderful how these traditions are passed along. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season coming in 2024. Be well and thank you again for your delish and creative meals. I watch you very often. xx

In case I run low on groceries between orders. Which I often do. I'm on disability and don't drive and have very limited funds for deliveries. So I'm defrosting 6 patties to make a meatloaf for dinner tonight 😊 it's one of my favorite meals, and my dog's too lol... he will get his own dog friendly mini loaf, so I can use some frozen peppers and onions, and spices that he can't have, in mine. So Thx for the content!

One year we had beef tenderloin and another year it was prime rib roast and crab legs, those were both a special treat those years. Now the majority of the time we usually will make some sort of pasta dish like lasagna, stuffed shells, stuffed manicotti or baked ziti along with many other appetizers and we always have bacon wrapped water chestnuts, its been a favorite for almost 40 years. Being from Chicago we often times will also have Italian beefs. Dessert is always jello salad and some sort of pie like apple or cherry

You do such a great job with your limited ingredients. When I am TN taking care of my parents, I often end up living out of the Dollar Tree there. I just don’t have TIME to do a big grocery shopping trip, often, and the DT is closer and cheaper (mostly). They have a freezer section - which my local DTs in CA lack - and often have pretty good selections. I will say that the frozen broccoli I got there was really pretty terrible (very tough!), but I have been amazed by most of the rest of the stuff I’ve gotten there. I’ve even gotten some real cheese in those tiny blocks they sell, for only 25 cents each (they were overstocked for their sell-by date, I guess)! I was VERY impressed by your pasta, too. I’ve made homemade pasta, but I had a pasta machine to help out. So you rolling them all by hand was very impressive! The dessert looked lovely, too. We used to make something like it when I was a kid. Making the three layers makes it look so pretty. :) Another trick to make it even fancier is to tip your glasses at an angle when you fill and chill them. Gives you fancy diagonal layers when you are done. :) Works like a dream(-whip?) with jello, too. For Christmas Day dinner this year, I joined my sister in SF to watch Kung Pao Kosher Comedy on her big screen, and she ordered Chinese food that I went to pick up. Before the pandemic, the Jewish comedy show was held in a Chinese restaurant 😆 but we had to get our own this year!

As a kid, Christmas dinner was sometimes turkey, but most often ham as everyone was sick of turkey from Thanksgiving. When I was with my ex, we did ham because he loved ham and not turkey so much. This year I am doing turkey, because it's what I like better, and I'm not sick of it! (Plus I got 2 free turkeys at Thanksgiving!)

I can’t eat turkey w/o gravy or hot sauce. Otherwise it’s kinda dry.
