The company’s hands-on approach, which includes shaping the pieces from clay, hand-carving floral designs, and custom glazing, all stem from Korean tradition. The pieces have made their way to Michelin-starred restaurants like The French Laundry in California’s Napa Valley and Jungsik in New York City. Korea has beautiful pottery culture. I wish more people knew how beautiful Korean culture is since its ancient dynasties like Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla. Most people think Korea was poor, but that is not true. Its history is 5000 years old and had very rich culture. It was famous for its golden jewelry, delicate silk, exquisite potteries., etc.

We visited our son when he was stationed in Wonju and he took us to Yeoju to see the ceramics and to buy some pottery. We have a matched set of beautiful jars that we treasure. Beautiful county and Yeoju was a great experience.

These last so long when made by master craftsman and kept well. I have a few that was handed down from my grandmother and still using them today. She told me that she got those from her mother. Kinda amazing considering that those times included occupation, and then Korean War.

I had a friend of mine associate pottery with Japan because of the western glorification of Japan through popularization of some of their food and entertainment (In short my friend is a weeb XD) When I told them that Japan did not have ceramics till the 1600 (or late 1500) and learned from korea and china after the invasion they were very surprised. I showed them old movies depicting pre-edo era Japan where they were using mostly wooden bowls and metal pots. It's interesting that sometimes exposure to only one type of culture can make people associate things from that area to that specific culture.

Sounds amazing! You really know how to eat. There are so many different kinds of kimchi, if you also like non-spicy kimchi, you can try ‘dong-chimi(made out of raddish and it is my favourite) or ‘baek kimchi(white kimchi)😍😍😍

It is more than just taste, it's all the health benefits as well . At times when there has been no kimchi to be had and I did not have proper ingredients here I noticed a big difference in my health. ,(LOL did I mention that I think in my last life I was Korean? Tbh, whenever I eat outside in a traditional restaurant. I always see plates, glass and utensils instead of food. Like I am more fascinate in this arts. Even on pottery in ancient times. We use clay pot jar to store water and it comes out cold. We made "buro" using clay jars until now. Pottery is essential even now. I'm happy seeing such videos where we can learn and see masterful arts.

The sangam technique has its origin in 7th century bc india. It was namely originated at kaveri delta. It had its architecture, litrature and philosophy. It spread through Asia and in 21st century. Indians learning by watching a korean master perfected it. Asia is truly a single culture branched to many cultures. So amazing.
