Love seeing stuff like this! I’ve opened up C-rations in the past just because I think old war rations are really cool. I do have a suggestion though: open cans from the bottom when you can so that they can be saved for display purposes, especially in museums or collections

Fun fact: if those crackers were sealed and in somewhat good environments, it would still be kinda tasty. Same goes for military versions of snacks. Hard as a rock, 8 yrs after expiration date and tasty as hell. Teeth hurt after a couple Bites tho

@@denisea8747 yes, but i dont see a reason to compare restaurant food to emergency rations. Normal food spoils quickly unless properly stored. Military rations however do not care if its in the middle of a desert for months or in a dense forest, it will fill your stomach, albeit it might not look extremely tasty (or might damage your teeth like with the K ration unless eaten properly in ww2)

Irradiated food isn't harmful, only if it's covered in any radioactive Ash or dust, meaning the crackers inside the tin should be safe to eat without any of that.

I had a really great fire a couple of weeks ago where I put a cake on the fire. All the icing on the outside melted at first and then started dripping liquid fire like burning oil. Was awesome!
