When I saw the video title I thought it would be like that one squid-catching place but NO THIS IS ACTUALLY SO COOL. Also not going to lie, the idea of catching the fish and the immediate turnaround of it being turned into sashimi is a definite plus.

oh, that guy was very good at english. -i semi-recently learned that a lot of japanese might be ok with reading or writing english, but speaking it is something else entirely, -so now i appreciate hearing when they're good at it, whenever it shows up in a video
@imthecoolest507 күн бұрын
I mean that’s how it is for almost all English learners, Japanese or not. We learn only by reading and writing, but we don’t have the environment for speaking English. So our spoken English tends to be way below our reading and writing. This guy in particular is really advanced.

@@imthecoolest50 i guess i've had a privilegie(?) of growing up in a country where we don't translate much english in games or films, so a lot of the youth, around 7-10, already know a fair share of english and most in their 20s can speak it fluently

You two go to some of the most unique places and I enjoy watching your adventures. I don't always find the food to be what I'd eat, but you seem to enjoy it. Well, it looked different from the one in Osaka, but the fish looked a bit more lively and plentiful at this one. It was pricey, but given the world market, it is a reasonable price given the overall experience. It would be interesting to see the other one again and see if there are any changes. The video on the Osaka fishing restaurant is one of my favorites, it's become a comfort video for me and I watch it probably every month or so. This looks like a lot of fun and I'd want to check this place out next time I go to Japan. What's it called? As usual, Mrs. Bacons was her adorable self who we love so much! Seeing you pop the eyeball out reminds me of how when I was a kid my family were friends with a Chinese family, and one day their father was cooking a whole steamed fish. We kids were hanging out in the kitchen and watching him cook, and without warning other than a sly grin? He popped out an eyeball with his chopsticks and ate it! We all of course said "EEEEWWWWWWW,' and he grinned and said "What? It's best part of the fish!" I've never forgotten that moment and it contributed to me being a more adventurous eater in later years.

Interesting but slightly concerned about parasites and bacteria. I guess they have their own special methods like keeping the environment clean or carefully inspecting them but still seem like a risk. Personally thinking that they might source the fish from a reputable farm or something but I’m not an expert.
@evil1by111 күн бұрын
Watch Masaru, he catches and breaks down lots of sea creatures and yeah he says most have parasites but the parasites aren't a concern for humans most of the time. Parasites are generally species specific, he seems more concerned with ciguitera(?) Poisoning than parasites or bacteria. I mean it is a risk but no food is 100% safe because its a living product.

I don't know how related the horse mackerel is to the species of mackerel we have swimming round UK shores, but they do look to be roughly the same size. I've been told our mackerel is a tasty fish, too, but can't vouch for it, because I don't like eating fish. In fact, the only time I ate fish happily was when I had it cooked with a fiery peanut soup or stew from Ghana: it was so spicy it completely killed the fish's flavour. Come to think of it, the fish that night was mackerel!
