Eating at Suncoast Casino's Du-par's Bakery and Restaurant

A lot of viewers have told me that Dupar's at the Suncoast Casino has the best pancakes in Las Vegas. I've been meaning to try and the opportunity arose that I needed to be in Summerlin so I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. On the way I found out they have a monthly special sandwich that sounded incredibly mouth watering. I'm looking forward to trying as much as I can because

A mini factoid for Shin and his loyal legion of followers (of which I'm one): Dupar's opened in 1938 at the legendary LA Farmers Market. When I first moved to LA, they had one right across the street from my job in the Valley at the time. Back then I thought their omelets were the best in the business. Now when I go to the Summerlin shop I usually get their incredible pancakes or equally incredible French toast. You won't go wrong with either choice.

The ones in California are much better than the one location in Las Vegas inside the Suncoast Hotel. Boyd Gaming has the license to use the name and recipes, but the quality is very hit or miss.

@@VegaswithShin They're based in Southern California, the location inside the Suncoast is independently owned & operated by Boyd Gaming Corp which has a license to use the name & recipes/menu. That said, driving all the way to Summerlin for the equivalent of a Marie Calenders restaurant is a pass, just too far unless your within 5 miles of the Suncoast. Hii Shin! I grew up in Studio City, CA and as a child I went to Du-Par’s every weekend for breakfast and sometimes for dinner during the week. You have to try their chicken pot pie if you go back because that has been on the menu forever. They are best known for their soups and sandwiches, and for their just making really good food in general. Thanks for the memories. It’s good to know I can go to Vegas to a casino and actually eat at Du-Par’s again. See you Saturday!

When I used to go to Du-Pars, I would take either the cream of chicken soup or the sausage gravy, spread it on a pancake, and roll it up and eat it. I know it's not for everyone, but their cream of (anything) soup was always up to the task and who hates gravy on pancakes? I know I'm weird, but seeing that soup again brought me right back. Shin, although I appreciate your honesty and positive attitude, I have to disagree with you about the food here at DuPar’s. I was happy to learn of their place at Suncoast Casino and couldn’t wait to try it for myself. 1st visit I ordered their Monte Cristo and was terribly disappointed in the quality of that sandwich!! Second visit I had to try their breakfast menu since it’s so popular in their Los Angeles location. Food was just okay, but the service was not so great! Once the food runner dropped off our meals we never saw another soul!! No refills on drinks and I even had to run down the check, as our server had abandoned us completely!! 😢

Yikes, that sounds like a double case of bad. I can only comment on my visit though I've read a few other commenters going on that they have consistency issues. But I can definitely say the day I went the kitchen was putting out some great food. Maybe the service was a bit slow but I never notice because I'm not eating like a typical diner at the restaurant. Shin, hi, you know we love your content, thank you! We are coming back in September, and we have been so intrigued with Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill in the MGM. This place is one of the “Rewards” on My Vegas Slots, so I bet many people are curious what you think of that place. I have searched all your videos, and don’t believe you have been to this spot even though you have hit many at the MGM. Hoping one day you have an urge to hit that restaurant and let us know…..!! Shin: Here's a parenthetical aside for you. While living in Peccole Ranch in July 2002, in the parking lot of the Suncoast, I purchased my beloved 1996 Geo Metro hatchback from a financially desperate "4 Queens" craps table croupier for the astounding sum of $1300. The little car was in excellent+ condition, rated at 40 mpg and ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I still have that Metro as we speak! You missed ordering their blueberry muffin; my wife will tell you it was the best one she ever had. Tuna Melt looked good. Not a big fan of mayo, usually eat it with mustard so glad they went light. Like how they added onions and celery. Pancakes look great! The problem with whose jalapeño poppers is that they used a cheddar cheese filling. Those are gross and I wish they would stop using that. Cream cheese filling is the only way to go with jalapeño poppers.

Yes DuPars was at the Golden Gate for many many years. The other one in Las Vegas came later. I ate at the one at the Golden Gate forever. Broke my heart when they closed it. Haven't stayed at the Golden Gate since they closed DuPars

I used to enjoy eating at Du-par's when it was at the end of the Fremont St experience at the Golden Gate Casino. It had that 60's vibe to it. Good food. Never had room for dessert

I wouldn't mind trying Dupar next time I'm in the Summerlin area. I would love to try the hawaiian breakfasts. For pancakes I'm not a huge fan of pancakes but I wouldn't mind trying their pancakes out.

I swear I started smelling egg and mayonnaise after you bit into that Texas toast, strange. Anyways, those pancakes look JUST like Aunt Jemima’s Buttermilk Complete pancakes, which is probably what they are...of course Du’par would deny this, lol.

I gotta tell you, I was pretty skeptical when I read about them. But I can definitely say on this day, the pancakes were incredible. I've read they had consistency issues at times, but certainly the day I went, they absolutely nailed it. Thanks for watching!

VWS: It seems you have some great local restaurants in Vegas. I consider Du'pars like a diner and provides that comfort food at a reasonable price. I do not know if you have ever consider putting together a digital guide book for use by us tourist ( see the Les Frenchies channel for an example). I would even consider buying it for a reasonable price. Anyway another solid vlog see you see Saturday Peace ✌️ out.

@VegaswithShin Be sure to check out the channel I recommended. They rep Paris and provide top notch tools to use when traveling. I think you may be under selling yourself. But your restaurant reviews are second to none. And I watch alot of these review channels. That knowledge is valuable to the traveller unfamiliar with Vegas. You may also want to throw in mode of transportation to these places on the outskirts i.e. the bus or some other safe mode. Take care
