Zi I have never heard the salaf talking negatively about dead Muslim at a funeral. We all have differences in fiqh so why does Shamsi think he has the god given right to force his understanding to others like Essa who had a different opinion? Shamsi has publicly spoken about brother Essa and if anyone is going to reply to his claims then it should in public too. However, if Shami kept his opinion to himself or among his peers then there is no reason to reply to him in public but I'd rather give him a call and talk to him. I hope you understand!! I do not know brother Ali, brother Shami or brother Essa personally. But I am here to defend brother Essa in particular and his family who might to listen to their son who is deceased is being slandered. Subhannalh. To Shamsi, 1) I just want to tell you that speaking/ slandering about a deceased brother who also contributed to dawa and subhanAllah Allah passed away in away that me and you wished to be in his position. May be you don't (only Allah know our intentions) but trust me wallahi I wish to be in his position . 2) His respected family will be listening to what you are saying, subhanAllah. You shouldn't speak about this at this difficult time for his loved ones sake at least (Only two days since Janazah, subhannAllah). Brother Essa’s death tells us all about the person he was. He passed away in the last 10 days of Ramadan, and the cause was covid. So he was a shaheed who passed away in Ramadan. Hadith No: 3925 Narrated/Authority of Talhah bin Ubaidullah Listed in: The Chapters on the Interpretation of Dreams that two men from Bali came to the Messenger of Allah (saw). They had become Muslim together, but one of them used to strive harder than the other. The one who used to strive harder went out to fight and was martyred. The other one stayed for a year longer, then he passed away. Talhah said: "I saw in a dream that I was at the gate of Paradise and I saw them (those two men). Someone came out of Paradise and admitted the one who had died last, then he came out and admitted the one who had been martyred. Then he came back to me and said: 'Go back, for your time has not yet come.'" The next morning, Talhah told the people of that and they were amazed. News of that reached the Messenger of Allah (saw) and they told him the story. He said: "Why are you so amazed at that?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah, the first one was the one who strove harder, then he was martyred, but the other one was admitted to Paradise before him. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "Did he not stay behind for a year?" They said: "Yes." He said: "And did not Ramadan come and he fasted, and he offered such and such prayers during that year?" They said: "Yes." The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "The difference between them is greater than the difference between heaven and earth."
