Try simmering tocino in about a quarter cup of water until the water all evaporates. It kind of washes off excess sugar to avoid over-caramelized tocinos. Then finish it by frying with a bit of oil.

Actually one of the Filipino culture that I am proud of is we really love to share our food whether there is an occasion or not. We feel happy everytime we see our guest/s enjoying the food we serve them. Seeing them full is like a reward for the hard work of preparing for everything. Try to go to provinces like Batangas on fiestas and try going to even just one small street or eskinita and I’m telling you, each and every houses in that whole stretch of street won’t let you pass by without eating anything from their handa/ food. Aside from that, people won’t let you leave without those big bottles full of macapuno, buko salad,caldereta,menudo,pancit and tons of different kinds of fruits. 😂😍

Traditionally, Tocino is reddish in color to make it look more appetizing and this is achieved by adding Saltpeter (Salitre) which is also used as food preservative. But this recipe does not use saltire but rather something more natural and healthier alternative. ( but I don't eat Tocino 😅 )

Lagyan ng konting asin at black pepper. Optional lagyan ng konting magic sarap/msg or yung knorr toyo mansi. Ipakulo ng konti tapos tsibugan na. Sarap yan ipares sa day old na kanin di ko alam term niyan sa tagalog pero sa bisaya, tawag namin jan "bahaw". Tsaka sarap na combo yung ginisang sardinas tsaka noodles. Lalo na pag umuulan. 😋

AHHHH maybe three months late, but a tip in cooking Tocino: let it boil in water to make sure that it becomes tender. After the water evaporates, let the far render and the tocino cook in its own fat. Then, it becomes a matter of whether you like it caramelized or naaah. But waaah loving your vlogs Kristy!

ate kristy! you should try spiced vinegar from the grocery (or make the vinegar + sili + onion + garlic clove combo and let it sit for a couple of days) then use the product as sauce for the tocino to “neutralize” the sweetness. white rice can do but its best if u pair it with a sunny-side up egg and garlic rice (sinangag) so you can have tosilog! tosilog belongs to a group of “-silog” filipino breakfasts and its really easy to make! hope u can try it in the future 😊

Best halo-halo in my opinion is at Razon's sa Guagua (Razon's of Guagua). The halo-halo itself is minimalistic, with only a few ingredients, but the flavors are both individually and entirely highlighted with each scoop! The shaved ice is so soft, unusually soft and isn't a hassle to mix. Their evaporated milk that doesn't taste like regular canned evaporated milk! Some even speculated that it's Carabao's Milk (can't confirm😅). The macapuno which gives a nice texture to the other ingredients as well as balances the overall creaminess. The leche flan that gives a nice creaminess that's quite different from the taste of the milk, and is definitely a crowd favorite.And finally, the sweetened saba bananas that has an earthy flavor which showcases it's sweetness. All those combined makes a creamy, milk shake-like halo-halo! I'm definitely sure, of all the halo-halo that I've had until this very moment, Razon's halo-halo is the best♥️. You should try it!😊
@warrenangelotumolva12612 жыл бұрын
agree, my mother and I usually get Razon's halo halo because the shaved ice is so fine that it melts while mixing.

Tell tita that tocino should be eaten with condiments cause it is really sweet as ulam, we used to dip it in vinegar with sliced tomato and minced garlic, just add a bit water if your are sour taste sensitive but kimchi is all meats best neutralizer so you got it right. I like Mang Inasal's Halo-halo cause their shaved ice are already flavored with milk so it is more creamier.

Wow! Nice of you to eat the corned beef. We prepare it in different way we drain out the water. Then we wait the cooking oil to be super hot then place the corned beef drained so it can be little bit crispy and then place the onioms. The best Halo halo we have is Iceberg because they are the oldest food restaurant they have already before Jollibee and Mang Inasal existed.
@sumakwelvictoria56352 жыл бұрын
Yes the native red onion and native garlic is spicy and intense. The native garlic is small but can burn your mouth if you eat it raw. I imagined putting chiu chow chili sauce in corned beef. Made my mouth water! Best halo-halo is home made with store bought candied sangkap and Arce Dairy Ube ice cream. Can't distinguish halo-halo from different restaurants. Tocino has salitre which is saltpeter or potassium nitrate. It is usually pink. I think they put red food dye because pink color makes the tocino look raw. The red probably is accepted because of red hotdogs.

Tocino is red because they put food preservative called Salitre, some does not have salitre which is better for the health so they will have duller color. I cook tocino in 1/4 cup of water first before frying it with its own oil. You can also add oil so that it won't stick to the pan if the tocino don't secrete enough oil.

I have a suggestion for you Kristy. When you eat sardines, try to add a bit of tomato paste. The reason for that is, because sardines nowadays doesn't taste like sardines back in the seventies. Back then, the tomato sause was really good. But today's sardines taste like heavily diluted tomato sauce. What I used to do back then was put the sardines and sauce in a small bowl, cut some onions and add a bit of salt. Today's sardines need extra tomato paste in order to really enjoy the taste of the original sardines. Enjoy!!!

redness from tocino comes from the curing salt somewhat. it tinged the meat red upon curing process. its the chemical that changes the color all in all what makes it good is the bad stuff that comes with it i loves tocino i can eat it 3x a day breakfast lunch dinner for the rest of my life. quick tip tho. braised your tocino in water first then add frying oil then wack the heat up until the water evaporates and cook in the oil after that remove the meat then friy garlic in the remainig oil in the pan and cook left over cold rice et viola instant garlic tocino fried rice

Now pa lang ako nakakita na may nilalagay na LABUYO sa ibabaw ng corned beef before isubo! 😁 That's very interesting! I never thought this but now I know na kumakain ka ng sardines 😊 nakaka amazed!
