Phuktal Monastery is one of the only Buddhist monasteries in Nothern India that is still only reachable by foot.
Groceries are delivered by horses and donkeys in the warmer months. In winter, they have to be transported through the frozen Zanskar River.
So how do nuns eat in one of the most remote Buddhist monastery? With just some flour and a small fire, they are able to make delicious bread and tea.
