Your video brought back so many memories. As a young soldier i was stationed in Germany. As soon as I arrived my platoon leader asked me if I was interested in participating in a bus tour of Italy sponsored by the base chaplain. Needless to say I was. I got to see Pisa, Rome, Toured the Vatican, the city of Pompeii and all of the ruins and sites. It was amazing. Sadly all of the photos I took on that trip were left in Germany but I still cherish the memories. As a young black kid from south Philly I never thought I’d see the places I did courtesy of my military service. That alone was worth the enlistment. Enjoy yourselves. Take lots of photos. You never know if you’ll get an opportunity to visit such a place again. And thank you both for all you do. You’ve helped my health and my outlook on life and the way I look at food and eating tremendously.

I love these travel videos! If the budget allows, please keep making more of these! I am ultra strict with keto. I am so rigid with keto, that in the 3 years I have been doing it, I have not had one cheat day or even a full cheat meal. With that said, I don't know if I could pass up having authentic Italian pizza, gelato, pasta, or cannoli in the very country that is not only known for originating those dishes, but also produces them at a quality that is unparalleled in the world. If I am going to take a once in a lifetime trip to Italy, I am going to try some of their most iconic foods, in all their high carb glory! On a side note: I love the Italian music you had in the background to this video. It beats the hip-hop you normally have punctuating certain parts of your regular videos, any day!

I would want to try everything also. been keto for 19 months so I would be afraid that the high carbs would make me feel sick but maybe one bite of everything every 30 mins or so lol I don't know I would just eat like a little piggie there..lol
@JosephFalchetti6 жыл бұрын
I agree with you here. I don't think they are experiencing life fully without trying these high carb foods in their country of origin. I am keto for months at a time, but sometimes I want to try something from the amazing chefs in my city. Unless you have a health issue where you are forced to be in ketosis all the time - I feel like this is just a life experience thing that you shouldn't miss out on trying some of the best food in the world. I have been to Rome, Florence, and Venice and the food was fantastic. I've got your cookbook and followed your site since you guys started it. Done a Skype call with you guys, but I really hope you're cheating off camera or something, lol.

I'm going to Barcelona next month and started thinking that I would give my permission to go off keto. Then I remembered what I ate in Italy when I visited (at least 4x, multiple cities) and, yes, I had pizza and pasta, but what I loved most was the meat and cheese boards! When I was in Barcelona for the day (a stop on a cruise), what I basically ate was jamon and dried salami in a cone. Yes, a cone, like ice cream but even better because pork. Since it's Spain, pasta and gelato won't be ubiquitous as it is in Italy so that will be easy. And honestly, I know people go gaga over paella and sangria but I am so meh about them, especially after eating keto for 2 years. I am going to eat jamon, lots of fish and seafood, weird parts of cows and pigs (including suckling pig and ears), and drink rioja and tempranillo like it's my job! Thank you for the reminder and inspiration that keto can be done in Europe.

True. I've developed some unhealthily obsessive thinking. Have you ever went off keto for an extended period of time? I'm interested in hearing people's experiences with: 1. how long people felt that ultra-tired feeling for when they went off of keto 2. how quickly they felt their energy come back when they got back on the diet

Gotta say I love seeing Americans in Europe for the first time, especially reacting to food. :) When you get home, look for San Marzano tomatoes. They are an Italian tomato that is the only one to get if you can find them. I found some called "Strawberry" tomatoes that were very similar. They are canned to, for sauce. Amazing. And not the cans that just say "Italian Tomatoes". Not the same. Get product of Italy San Marzano ones. Love the "Holy SH*T" reaction of you guys to the food. Pretty awesome and CHEAP!!!! Salute!
