We were waiting for you in Iasi, in Romania. Iasi is the capital of Moldova in Romania. The old Moldovan Region of Romania was divided after the Second World War between Romania and Russia, and now the Russian part is called the Republic of Moldova. Iasi is a city where you can visit many things. Here we have the Palace of Culture, one of the most beautiful buildings lit at night in the world. Also here we have the Gheorge Asachi Library, one of the most beautiful in the world, according to some charts. Also, the National Theater in Iasi was chosen by the BBC as one of the most beautiful theaters in the world. We are waiting for you in Iasi, Romania. Iasi is very close to Chisinau.

La Placinte is actually a fast-food-y type restaurant. The quality is not exactly fast food, but they don't cook from scratch either. Eating all those dishes in one go is impressive though :) Another thing - Moldovan cuisine is Romanian cuisine, it's not just influenced. There is no fusion... You may have a mild Russian influence, especially in Chisinau, but that's it. E.g. ask yourselves which of the dishes that you have tried is Russian? Maybe colțunași (dumplings), but then again I am not sure they are a Russian influence. There is a higher probability that it might be Polish or even Tatar... Enjoy your travels!

Glad you are enjoying the time in my city. One thing that I would add is that dumplings (vegetarian ones with the likes of cheese, potatoes and various fruits, that we call colțunași) are also traditional to Moldova and Romania. It is not necessarily a Soviet import, though arguably they became more popular here because of that era.

Which has more years of existence than Romania !! Moldova is so old that it can keep its traditions and history with its culture! Besides Romania, where he forgot everything, the kitchen is usually silent! where for them it is bussines, for us it is a tradition that we use every day, not like in rum, ania Saorma learn history...

Just because a place is very popular doesn't mean it offers the best experience. Although Moldova's economy is not the best, there is beauty in nature, in its landscapes, in its villages with dirt roads, in its rustic panorama, not to mention its women. Guys, there is no influence from Russia in this food :). It is all traditional Moldovan cuisine that dates back hundreds of years. You are trying out the café version, but in the villages, nearly all families have been cooking these dishes for hundreds of years, and they are even better than what you find in city cafes. Moreover, there are numerous variations of these dishes. For example, Plăcinta can have different fillings, such as cherry, apples, pumpkin, cabbage, and so on.

U bought cheap version of mamaliga. Usually mamaliga is served with fried meat (pork, chicken) or fried fish (carp). Aaand of course you have to eat it with garlicy sauce which is called Mujdei (sunflower oil, a lot of garlic and salt, that's it). How I eat? First of all u have to cut your mamaliga (of course with thread). After that you put your small piece into the sour cream and only after that into the branza (for best sticking))), idk how to explaine). You chew eat, enjoy and you eat the meat you dipped into the mujdei. And new circle... Again and again)))
