Your videos just popped up on my newsfeed maybe because I was planning my trip back to my hometown after 6 years and was searching for some places to go. Back when I lived in Vietnam, Hoi An was my favorite place to go. The food are amazing. The streets are beautiful. Back then I didn’t really appreciate our food culture. Now that I live in a different country where you can go and try different culture food, I appreciate my food culture more. The snails you tried normally are caught in the rice 🌾 fields. The sauce was ginger, hot peppers, and garlic fish sauce. They added sugar and lime to the sauce to balance the salty taste from fish sauce. The coconut cake was my favorite when I was a little kid. The drink was made from peach 🍑 it’s called peach tea. As I watched the video I was thinking, “hmm.. the people are very honest and didn’t try to rip you guys off.” You know some places they try to rip offs foreigners. Did you guys try Cao Lau? It is the must-try food in Hoi An. Very good video. Thank you for appreciating the food culture. 😁

The first one called Dragon's breath dessert. It's not typical vietnamese. It's a foodtrend. I bought it 2 years ago in Germany-Hamburg on a funfair. Basically you dip sth into nitrogen and then you have to eat it straight away. The taste is nothing special, but then your breath through your nose and mouth will be kind of a smoky dragon breath. This is what it's all about. :)

I am so very interested in Hoi An. . Love coconut. Coconut cake patty winner. Seemed to me you missed meats on a stick from this market. I forget sometimes that food can be made to look interesting and sacrifice its flavor totally. Living in the NY area makes one do that because there is a preponderance of chefs that are too bored with the traditional stuff that ex- perimentation rules. Those iced dessert balls in dry ice just reminded me that misses can occur too, which seldom happens in NYC because when a vendor sells something just for the appearance it will not be around for long...for sure. The competition is so cut-throat you will invite getting your throat cut! As a Filipino, the tendency is to serve up food that will look bad or smell bad but it will generally taste good. I guess that is why foreigners tend to get their noses on the food and we always find it very odd.
@ChaseandShelbs2 жыл бұрын
That is so accurate! I feel like that’s what happened with the first dessert balls! They weren’t good at all.. but wow you are right.. alot of the Filipino food sometimes looked interesting but wow is the flavour on point! We still tried everything though and fell inlove with filipino food 🥰😍

Is Chase a robot? I feel like he never blinks! He's staring straight through my soul! 😂 Jokes aside- one thing I always thought Vietnam was lacking was proper street foods markets. A lot of the markets in Vietnam are mostly clothes, toys and other random stuff, with a few food stalls here and there. Compared to places like Thailand, Taiwan or Malaysia where they have markets that have massive food sections (or even markets of *just food*), I always thought the food selection was a bit lacking at these types of events. It's actually kind of a shame- because Vietnamese street food is amazing! Hoi An has some amazing food. Don't forget to eat some Cao lầu! Easily one of my favorites. 😍

I'm growing Calamansi bought at Canadian Tire, it's has the same taste as kumquat, but the skin is thinner and lighter almost orange, you can eat the skin, in Vietnam, they use calamansi for candy-jam like for new year the entire fruit and the peel is cooked up in caramelized sugar. Kumquat has a thicker and darker green skin, you can't eat the skin, even if you tried it will tase very bitter, it's only good for making juices

Kumquat vs Calamansi; from a classification POV some say that they are discernible by the number of internal segments in cross-section. In Australia 'kumquat' refers to a similar fruit, more elongated than spherical, and with a sweet rind and sour inner parts. They are used to set preserves, having heaps of pectin. Calamansi are the ones you are familiar with, used in sugar cane juice, dipping sauces, and as an ornamental tree (in Aus)

The rule to win this fear is keep routin slowly walking when you across the streams of motobike! motor-bykers knows how to avoid you themself in chaos-order! remmember do not runs and stop suddently , accident immidiatly ! But which of the best part from you guys really give 10/10 since you ate a lot, did you missed a lot of food that you didn't take a bite? May be you should come back for more if all those foods were kinda cheap haha.. That smoking ice candy balls it seems it is burning in your lips, I wonder what is the taste like, was it too sweet or tasteless.
