For a tourist destination, Penang streets and eateries are filthy. Public toilets are dirty, even at the shopping malls.

Seriously, dont you think the weather is way too hot & humid? Yes, the secret trick to a delicious fried rice cake or noodle is the heat of the wok/skillet. The hotter, the more 'wok hei'😂 . With the current exchange rate, things almost feel like free ❤🎉

Basically, Malay food is nasi champur, which means Rice & Mixed dishes/Lauk. You take your rice & pick & choose your Lauk (dishes), same like in the mamak restaurants. Difference is, Malay dishes/lauk come in many different flavours/the spices used - gravy-based/Gulai, coconut milk, turmeric, kurma, also rendang, panggang (grilled), salai (smoked), fried-based, plain or with chilli, sambal-based, belacan, asam, anchovies, budu, etc.. Taste is totally different than the mamak/indian spices used in curry, masala, tika. You might want to Google Malay restaurants in KL. Kg. Baru area is 1. Restaurants that serve Nasi Campur, ie. not just Nasi Lemak. Malay foods/restaurants are aplenty outside of KL city center, near housing areas. 😁
