I have to try this. Most recipes on youtube call for chicken breast, which is about as flavorful as a wad of toilet paper. Yours sounds great.

Would you recommend adding all the drippings from that pan into the crockpot as well? Or woukd that make it too greasy?
@carolbaughan87683 ай бұрын
Cool the pan drippings, scrape off the fat. The remaining jelly is great for the soup stock.
@carolbaughan87683 ай бұрын
Keep it, cool it, scrape off the fat, use as soup stock with leftovers and bones.

We think it makes it too greasy and will float to the top of the crock pot.

Is there any liquid to rice ratio that I should follow for this? For example, if I use 2 cups of rice, how much liquid should I use? Will it be a 1:1 ratio (2 cups of liquid for 2 cups of rice)? Thanks!
@EatingonaDime3 ай бұрын
I would say 1-1 ratio. If t feels weird since normally it is a 1-2 ratio but this will prefer the rice from being mushy
@Azaroth13293 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yeah that's fair since on slow cookers it will cook a bit differently.
@righton6442Ай бұрын
@@EatingonaDime I was wondering the same thing, because when you cook long grain rice on the stovetop it is a 2 cups or water to 1 cup of rice. I did the two cups of water and 2 cups of rice and I'm guessing that because it's in the crockpot 1 to one ratio is fine. I have it cooking right now.
@howardbeatman2820Ай бұрын
The problem with cooking rice and chicken together in the same pot is that the chicken stews rather than roasts (and so is flabby) and the rice is greasy because it absorbs the grease coming out of the chicken.

If using brown rice would I double the broth?
@AndyDouglas20011 күн бұрын
Gave it.a try. Definitely not enough liquid. After a couple of hours the rice was still quite hard and uncooked and the liquid was all gone.

I love your channel and your videos have been immensely helpful so I thank you for that very much I have an issue with recipes that are written or that are on a channel such as KZbin and that issue is the fact that people only talk about how many of a meat item they never really discuss pounds or ounces sometimes I go to the store and a chicken breast will look like it's come from a turkey The thing is huge and there's other times I will go to the store and I'll pick up a chicken thigh and it's so small there's hardly no meat on it so I really would appreciate if people put some type of guideline as far as weight is concerned. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy Happy New Year I thank you so much for sharing your videos

Do I have to precook the chicken?
@CricketsBay2 ай бұрын
She just browned it. She didn't pre-cook it all the way through. It definitely won't taste the same without browning the chicken. This way it tastes a lot like fried chicken. It's very bland and the skin is very slimy and won't brown if you just throw it in the Crock-Pot without browning it first.

I always double the liquid for the rice, is this rice different?
@blackfootdaisy3 ай бұрын
I do a similar recipe in the oven that uses equal amounts of liquid to rice and it's one of our favorites. I'm thinking it's because the chicken thighs produce moisture/liquid into the equation. I really don't know, but it works!
@carolbaughan87683 ай бұрын
@@blackfootdaisy rice will absorb drippings

Cooking in the crock pot is different as not as much liquid cooks off so we don't use as much liquid when cooking rice in the crock pot.
