What supercharger would you recommend for a Jeep 4.0L based 4.6 Stroker ? I like the low rpm grunt provided by superchargers than having to wait for a turbocharger to spool up. And if the supercharger has a switch to shut off for improved fuel efficiency when extra power is not necessary all the better. Thanks

Don't know if anyone will answer since the video is 6 years old but I will make a shot. When I'm searching for m62 Superchargers here in sweden i get a bunch of supercharges but they all don't look the same. Is there any part number or anything so I can valify if it's a m62? I'm so lost

+C4N4Di4N1 I'm assuming 5-8 psi. Not totally sure. Yea you could put it on a mustang, but it might be a little small for a v8 Can't tell you how much more hp you'll make, anywhere from 0-15hp per lb of boost

Cool, looking into supercharging my 2.5 that just blew up... was wondering M-90 or M-62? Sounds like m-62 it will be...
@JamesFritch427 жыл бұрын
Hey Aaron, I recently replaced the turbo and TGV sensor on my 2005 Outback XT. The XT now sounds more like it has a supercharger than a turbo because you don't hear wastegate flutter or BOV sounds. I would prefer to hear the chu chu noises though. I still have to check for vac/boost leaks. It's running really good though, the acceleration with the new turbo is very smooth. I put a video up on my channel if you want to listen to it. I held it around 40 MPH because I was going around a corner. You will hear what I am talking about right at the end of the video. Any theories why it sounds like that? The aftermarket turbo that I bought did NOT come with a restrictor pill. I still have the stock pill but have not tried it out on the new turbo. I need to buy and install AFR and Boost gauges before trying to make any more adjustments. Anyways, thanks for doing these videos, I look forward to watching your Q&A livestreams.

Subaru, well FHI, actually makes a supercharger. it's for the old pleo key cars. some say it doesn't push enough boost to make a huge difference, maybe 5psi, but It's pretty cool that a subaru came factory with one.
@Dirtcheapdaily7 жыл бұрын
+Fox Mense yea I've seen those things on eBay. Pretty cool little chargers. I think it'd be a good option for a 1.8 or 2.2, maybe a 2.5, but I worry it wouldn't flow enough at high rpm
@fox101697 жыл бұрын
Dirtcheapdaily yeah it may end up hurting an H6 in the long run. on a 1.8 though it would be perfect. maybe a future project haha

How does the electric clutch work? Can air still pass through the supercharger while its not moving?
@madthough22984 жыл бұрын
Electromagnet engages the clutch, air cant pass through with the sc off, a bypass valve is used so air can still get onto the engine when the sc is off
@Zapo96684 жыл бұрын
@@madthough2298 aah I see, the bypass valve makes sense. That is what I was missing.. What sort of valve is that? Must be quite large like 50 to 60 mm and must open and close quickly?
@madthough22984 жыл бұрын
@@Zapo9668 Mine is an m45 so smaller than the m62 or m90. Its basically a vacuum operated throttle body, 40 mm in diameter. Its mostly open under low throttle conditons so doesnt need to bypass much air

Before switching on the camera it might be an idea to really think about what you want to say. The first half of this video just repeats live stream and the guy from Instagram who donated the part info (which could be written on screen) when we want to cut straight to the supercharger info. Sorry but I learnt nothing from this video.

A slightly more useable M90 comes from a JAGUAR X300 XJR-6. Straight six. It has removable inlet and outlets, teflon coated rotors. A really short snout like the m62 you have and a small 3"upper pulley Really easy to fit with 4 nice mounting lugs. Check one out if you can find a Jaguar breaker. Also came on Aston martin DB7's but rarer and aston tax as standard

@@cameronvandygriff7048 Different casting on the case so the outlet flange and bolt pattern is different. Its doable but youd be better off with an aftermarket or ported stock case.
@cameronvandygriff70482 жыл бұрын
@@madmod yeah I've completely given up on the idea that was brewing then I wanted to out a M90 on a 3800 in a camaro but basically it involves a custom casing and beating the firewall and alot of other custom parts and turns into less work for a V8
@madmod2 жыл бұрын
@@cameronvandygriff7048 I was just working this swap out for a customer in a firebird. It used a magnum mpx extreme m90 case, stock 3800 snout and pulley, and it used a stock gtp lower with an adapter plate and should be good for 350fwhp on e85 non intercooled. This case is only $450 new and we just had a 3.5 inch aluminum tube welded onto a flange for the inlet and fed it with a single blade 90mm tb. The 3800 is plenty stout as far as power handling goes and the m90 can feed it well. The rest of the swap was fuel system and was relatively affordable. It is a tight squeeze but far more workable than a stock gtp 3800 case.
