@@EatSeeRV yes it does. The scenes where you are walking on the driftwood are very cool. I incorrectly thought it was fragile and would snap. Not implying your heavy (your not!) Very will done from an artistic viewpoint. Lighting was perfect

I’ve been going to Edisto for 2 weeks every year and it’s become my favorite place on Earth. And believe it or not, Edisto is home to Tortuga’s, one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. It’s home cooked Mexican food with a low country twist! It’s breakfast and lunch menus are INCREDIBLE!!!
@nautiquecowboynautiquecowb53173 жыл бұрын
I stayed there last year they don't have full hookups you literally have to go out of the campground go up the road to the dump station. When I did it was a long line of people waiting to dump. There's no bike path so you have to be really careful when riding. Only one grocery store. Be sure to have what you need when you get there. Making a reservation is hard because you have to wait for a cancellation to get in. Campground pretty much stays booked all the time. Sounds like we didn't enjoy our stay but we really did. Great beach access from the campground. Riding my bike on the beach was the most fun I've had in awhile Sands good and hard. If you love the beach not the amenities this is the place for you.

What a beautifully done video. Edisto has long been a best kept secret with those of us who are native South Carolinians. Many of us continue to visit Edisto for summer vacations over decades, have memories of childhood vacations and are now taking our children and grandchildren there. I hope Edisto never goes the route of modern tourist and stays a small, well kept and cherished community. Everything about it is magical and like stepping back in time. Myrtle Beach is exciting. Charleston and Savannah have found their place. Edisto is for the beach lovers that want to relax, experience vacation as it's been for a long time and don't have a need for flashing lights, tons of people and do have a need to go home rested and refreshed. I'm so glad you found and enjoyed Edisto Island. Y'all come back and visit when you can. Safe travels to you.

@tylerallen99713 жыл бұрын
Edisto is an absolute beautiful area with amazing residents and visitors. Even in the summer when all the campgrounds are full and houses are rented it is no where near as packed as other local beaches. Please remember if you visit Edisto runs on it's own time so please don't get in a hurry bc no one else is. Also remember we only have one grocery store so in the summer give yourself a little extra time to shop and check out, last but not least please bring all your medications if you take any bc there is no Dr. office on the beach and the ER is about 45 minutes away.
@davidfence69393 жыл бұрын
People forget how remote Edisto is in comparison to going to Folly or Myrtle. But it's why I liked my visit and look forward again. Hopefully it stays more on an SC secret. Glad the laws are there to protect it from being over developed. There are enough golf courses and resorts on other islands to make up forit.

Hopefully Edisto holds out. It's far away from downtown and you can't really build luxury homes out there like every other beach and borough in the city. I call it the "Great Local Relocation." Multi-million dollar homes going up everywhere ... John's Island and Wadmalaw are next to manifest into everything Mt. Pleasant is.

Great video. Been coming to Edisto for 40 years and love it. Our only request is for people to come and enjoy, but also know that part of the charm is the pace and the lack of lots of entertainment, pharmacy, chain restaurants, large stores. Hey, former Edisto Island resident here! An amazing place for sure...We called it EdisSlow as it was hard to get things done in a timely manner.😎 Fishing & relaxing is a art form. So I recommend buying a completely move in property, rather than build!!!! Have a steady income when you get there. Be prepared jobs are umm well seasonal. It takes time to be trusted and fully embraced by the locals, sometimes years. Be honorable and straight up with people, these people know human nature, their ranks expand 10 fold every year, like it or not. This is considered a family vacation beach. Folly Beach or Isle of Palm are for the party crowds. EdisSlow was not for me. Love to visit, give me the urban life.

Glad you found us and are enjoying! We didn't really have an issue. They love me too. We don't go out at the "witching hour" aka sunset unless there's a breeze though. But during fall it wasn't an issue
@davidfence69393 жыл бұрын
'squitos ;) That situation depends. Lived in SC and gone up and down its coast for almost 40 years now. If there's a storm and it's warm weather you'll see them. You see more in spring and summer. Honestly, if you want to avoid them I'd go after August. Better rates for staying too. Less people. If I could convince my sister, who I got on vacation with, to take my niece out of school during the fall I'd go then rather than in June/July. Plus as you know in Texas..heat and humidity. Columbia, around where I live, has the affectionate nickname of "Famously Hot" due to the heat and humidity. Bugs enjoy that weather. So I'd say the mosquito situation is going to come down to when you want to visit.
@ruthcsmithatty3 жыл бұрын
ok, my family lives on Edisto, so I can tell you about bugs. 1. Mosquitos generally stay off of the beach. But if you go anywhere past the sand dunes (except in the town), you need bug spray. Now, mosquitos aren't all that's out there to make life miserable. There are also sand gnats, (aka: noseeums) that will follow you onto the beach, but maybe not so much if there's wind. There are also deer and dog flies. These look like house flies but bite. And they bite HARD. So having a can of DEET bug repellant is a must , and DEET is a must. don't waste your time with anything not containing DEET. Finally, don't forget the fire ants, so watch your feet regardless of where you go.

Dennis is right that you just can't beat a meal cooked by your awesome wife. Eating out is too easy these days. Man the nice warm beach looks amazing on a day that was freezing.

Bringing more people is the problem! We don’t want that in South Carolina. That’s why we’ve tried to keep our precious Edisto a secret 🤫

Seriously! Live on this island and in the summer it’s packed with tourists and so many people are starting to move here, it’s getting crowded, and now South Carolina’s secret is out 😭

This is from a local book your Edisto state park site at least 4 months in advance. Even in the winter it stays booked. Edisto is an awesome place to visit.
