Never quite understood the exact way calciumreactors work. Now I do. Superb explaining!
@57koop5 жыл бұрын
I also have the JBJ 45 I’m new to reefing. Your videos have been very very helpful I’ve been thinking about a calcium reactor for a while now and you have definitely explained it to where I understand it a lot more thank you! Again some people say I’m nuts to put a calcium reactor on a 45 gallon tank but I love the simplicity and after the initial costs it’s very inexpensive For the media per year! Plus any tank I’ve seen with the calcium reactor is just stunning!

The second chamber usually is used to increase the ph back(lower the co2 content in coming from the main reactor) so using aragonite is the best thing for that purpose.
@shoregun1035 жыл бұрын
The check valve job is to protect the co regular. Smart move going that route. A simple way to tune the calcium reactor is to only adjust the ph. Start high say like 7.2 and go low as your needs

Yes check value prevents water from entering the tank when it's out of CO2 via siphon.
@gonzolak835 жыл бұрын
You are correct on the check valve. It should be installed after counter so when you run out of co2 or simply solenoid turn off , water won't flood your co2 tank and regulator. Without it you could damage your regulator (worse case scenario) or make it work bad (in terms of dosing co2). Hope that makes sense (english not my native) :) Have fun .

Polyp Lab reactor? Where can I get this one?
@dude604155 жыл бұрын
I'm always at the end buddy. I'll check on the valve when I get back to the tank. But I'm pretty sure your correct. The valve stops water from entering into the regulator. I assume this is possible when the gas runs out. I have a electronic regulator so I swap it out when its low to avoid that ever happening.

If I use my apex for the ph probe, how would I hook up the solenoid to it? So it shuts off if needed
@eatsleepreef95653 жыл бұрын
The solenoid has a power plug, that power plug would go into an apex socket so it can be shut on and off.

What calcium reactor is that? Kind of looks like my Aquamaxx, also the AquaMaxx had me set it up as pushing water not pulling is that ok?
@trexon15 жыл бұрын
The check valve stops water backing up the CO2 line... It should be fitted near the reactor on the CO2 line just before the reactor CO2 inlet. .. In my experience the second chamber increase the overall PH, but it does not stop the swings.

Why add the extra step of crushing the media? Does it say to crush in the instructions? I think that the reactor/media developers have all done the research and sell us what is needed to make this work. Just saying, great video though.

To add to it, the other media manufacturers with smaller media actual provides less effluent at the same pH and flow

Pedantically if you remove the 10% before you add your remag then you have 11% not 10% of remag to the total volume of reborn - your supposed to add the 10% to the 100% - not that it matters !🤣
