I've mentioned them here and there. A solar oven with top cracked open with a pencil or the like makes a good solar dryer. I used to dry mustard greens that way, and arugula.

YES! Finally new videos! Please keep them coming! More, more, more! More cooking, more recipes, more close-ups of plants and more detailed tutorials on identification would be awesome! Thanks so much, I love your stuff and learn so much!

I never knew you could dehydrate them! It always upset me that un-eaten ones just fall off and rot because I love the way they taste. Thank you so much for this video, I am going to share it with people I know.

The drying range is 130 to 140 F. I use 135. I dry them semi-soft to crisp. I prefer them slightly less than totally try.

If I remember correctlly it's an Excaliber, the same that Gander Mountain but I bought mine off the internet as a return. It had a bad switch which I fixed for a couple of dollars. The plasting shelf covers were pricey but they help a lot with small stuff. It also has a high temperature range so can make jerky in it (messy though.)

I vote for Squats as their fruit leather name, lol. Thank you for all your video's. Learning a lot. Tried my first smilax the other day...they are delicious; I used to cut them down and try to keep them out of my hedges, now I "eat the weeds".

First time I tried them, I like them so much...I planted the seeds. Now I have 2 young plants. Yield a ton of fruit. They kind of remind me of another fruit...I think it was mexican plum.

Another fantastic video Deane. I'd like to seem your video for making Loquat Wine. I do a bit of brewing, but mainly from concentrates and I'd like to get more into using fresh fruits, though we don't have Loquats in the UK.

What ever flavor or flavors they are on the tree intensifies when they are dehydrated.

My Loquat Tree just started producing its first fruit. I look forward to a future of dehydrated loquats. Q- Do they get sweeter when dehydrated? Seems they can be a little tangy right off the tree.

I know they grow in Charleston South Carolina.

How do you eat loquats when they're still yellow and bitter? I always have to wait until they get orange and soft. That's when they tend to be the sweetest. It's funny how this is such an awesome tree with so many useful purposes and yet it is somewhat of an invasive exotic species here in Florida.

Cumquats and Loquats are different. I know they look similar but cumquats are hairy. My granny in Tampa has a cumquat tree. They are both very good. I think I prefer Loquats though.

Is it me, or have you been working out? LOL You look like you've lost some weight and are getting fitter. Thanks for the video. Unfortunately I don't have these wonderful fruits here in Ohio. It's funny that I got a notification of another video from you (as I was thinking of you today) I have this Evergreen bush that has mutated. It has one base/trunk but there are 2 VERY different genus, it seems growing from it. One is thick w/very small dense needles, the other, long stems/long needles. Hmmm

Can the seeds be used for food at all?.....
@greendeane16 жыл бұрын
Doubtful, and controversial. They have a bit of arsenic naturally but of greater concern is some cherry flavoring which is suspected to have some cyanide. That said a few seeds are used for flavoring and some people report roasting and eating the seeds. I do not recommend that.

@@greendeane1 hey @ Green Deane .. is the unidentified flowering object forums still alive and well..? theres quite a few things i could use help with.. but 1 in particular is this small watermelon looking plant about the size of a golf ball(this is in december, that i found them) but the patterns resemble a w.m.. and inside its lined with white and the middle had about 50 small brown seeds.. even more distinct is the leaves which are around 7 inches across,i think 3 pronged and the leaves have big thorns on the underside, and i think the stems too, and really soft like cloth..it wasnt a vine, only about 2 ft high? any ideas sir? ps it doesnt look like the creeping cucumber or any other watermelon fruit i could find on google images.. oh and i live in leon county, florida
