The tape candy was so awesome to eat when I was a child. It's like an equivalent of fruit roll-ups for Koreans except not fruity. It is merely fructose solidified and thinned out into a tape roll. The "buttons" you call, I had them pretending they were pills but delicious sugary medicine. The apollo sticks? Here's a trick. You roll the straw containing the candy in between your palms to warm it up so it slides right out of the straw when you suck it out. We used to try really hard not to leave any residue after we ate them. The gum balls - oh man, they were the best. You could get the 4-pack for around 200-300 won and chew them all at once like Martina did. So great. The last candy, which is jjondugi - it tastes really great when you grill it like the file fish. This is also made from some type of corn product and it's one of the more bland snacks in Korea. Nowadays, the snacks tend to me sodium packed and sugar packed, but back in the days, we had Pokemon bread and these snacks (before the Pokemon and the bread snacks became a thing, much like the Kakao bread now).

Yes. I have tried most of them and corn ones and Jjon-du-gi ones are best when you warm them up slightly. There were quite a few of those kinds of candies that it's better when you heat them up when I was in elementary school. Believe it or not my friends and I used a Panini machine looking thing to heat up our squid and Jui-po(The hard fishy stuff Martina had last week) back then. Rice paper looking tape one was one of the most lasting ones and as both of you might realize there are more 'carb based' snacks in Korea, many candies were going for carbs then the taste of sweetness. Besides, when I was young I used to be able to taste ever so slight hint of strawberry when I had that tape thingy XD

I remember trying all of those as a child during 90s!! I would get them at the store in front of the elementary school! Those tape ones were actually quite much sweeter than it probably is now! We just like to melt them in your mouth and just try to taste that subtle flavor. Apollo was definitely one of most popular one since it was so fun to get it out of the straws. Those chewy snacks you guys tried, I think it's really hard for non korean people to really enjoy those to be honest. They are indeed very unusual flavor compare to american candies

Ensj holy shit I remember those plastic straws filled with sweet sugary jelly at those stationery stores right by the stores....mine had like 4 or 5 competing stores side by side LOL...I also remember those tiny arcade cabinets running street fighter...ahh nostalgia >< Now that I think about it was pretty unhealthy and probably would've gotten banned in North America but shit I used to buy those Apollos when I had 10 won coins I had left over...even the mid 90s you could buy a popsicle for 300~500 won, it's like probably well over 1000 won now.
